I see no reason why there can't be a reunion in Rupp Arena. If Pitino doesn't want to show, then so be it.
If slick Rick doesn't want to be here, then remove his name from Rupp. GBB
Yeah there should definitely be some sort of recognition for that team. In my opinion, that team set the standard for college basketball teams to try to live up to.

Taking the UL coaches job was bad enough, but its all the BS that he has brought to the situation that has made his welcome in Lexington anything but pleasant.
From all the little jabs at UK fans, the dirty play he brought into Rupp a few years back, the current sex scandal and while doing an interview on the subject, brings up UK and the 80's, the finger, lying about it, etc., take his name down and give it back to him.
I am not sure about everyone else, but the players need to remember the name on the front of their jerseys and give the fans, the school some respect on this.
Wonder if DA will take some of those cheeseburgers to the party he is known for?

The trouble with Rick is he actually thinks he has done nothing wrong. How could he have known he is an ass. His head is up it so much he thinks it's normal. Most delusional person in coaching. That's a big "screw you" to the fans. Given the choice, I think UK would say "screw you" to Pitino and go on with the celebration w/o him. It's a huge mistake by UK in my opinion.

Then we really cant blame him for not wanting to come back. Honestly if he was willing to risk facing those boos just to celebrate 1996.....then I think that should earn enough respect for us not to boo for one night.... ..... Just one night and because its to celebrate the title team and booing would put a damper on the mood.

I'm hoping we get to have some sort of celebration for them at rupp. I know pitino was the coach but they played for the university of Kentucky.
Before I was for leaving Pitino's banner up. Remove it and replace with Tubby.
I would think that unless he wants to come back for the Derby we are a few months away with him being done in the state of Kentucky for the rest of his life.
That more than likely would take a special statement from our beloved Coach Cal for the fans to subdue themselves.

Funny how we often think alike. There's a lot of us who don't like what the man has done since, but still credit him for what he did in his time at UK. I'd certainly welcome him back. For that one day anyway.
and you know what? I really think he would make that statement. He asked the fans to behave in December - and he HAS embraced the Kentucky basketball history so he understands the importance of this.
Agreed. Cal does things for the right reasons and betterment of all. A true gentleman of all facets of the sport. You wonder if Cal asked Rick to participate in such would Rick do it? If Cal asked and Rick said no then that would be the final straw for him in Lexington. Interesting topic isn't it?
