I have 1 of the 2 nets from this game, worn around Hatton's neck after cutting it down (obtained from an NBA Hall of Fame auction many years ago). Probably the crown jewel of my UK memorabilia collection!

Yes! During an interview a sports writer had with Rupp just before the beginning of the 57-58 season Rupp said" this team was long on experience but short on talent I don't have any accomplished violinist only a bunch of fiddlers." Thus the "fiddling five"! He went on to say since we were short on talent I decided to run them so you are going to see a lot of fast break offense from this team. This is my favorite wildcat team of all time! Five of the top six players were from Ky. Johnny Cox, John Crigler, Vernon Hatton, Adrian Smith and 6th man Don Mills were all Kentuckians. Only Ed Beck, the starting center, was from out of state. Ed was from Ft Valley, Ga. I was fortunate enough to get to meet Johnny Cox, who was a friend of my cousin Dr Herb Green, a Lexington dentist. I spent about 10 days on a Caribbean cruise with John Crigler and his family in the early 2000's. They were both very nice down to earth people. I loved that team! Was this the team referred to as the fiddlin' five?
First time I have seen Kentucky play defense in five years.
Putting a John Wall in this game would be like giving a solider a machine gun in 1582
