Is it possible by say 2020 if Cal stays? The odds are against it, with injuries and guys being paired together, and some guys just not panning out, but a guy can dream right?

That would be tough but if anyone can do it Cal can. Having said that I seriously doubt it can happen

that sounds communistic, let's stockpile them all on a few teams then invade.

Just say that out loud- by start of 2017 season UK will have added between 12-16 guys TO THE NBA . THAT IS FLAT OUT INSANE .

Until Kentucky took over the NBA with the talent of the last 20 years, UNC*** and their fans** loved to talk about the NBA connection. They would even use guys like jordan and worthy and recruit off of it.

Now that we clearly are the team of "choice" for NBA greats, it's a bad thing, and they are hired mercenaries.

UK has replaced UNC as the "program of the pros" that they touted since the late 70's.

it's one thing they can't stand, but they will NEVER admit it.

There are 30 NBA teams. Personally, if UK had 30 players in the league, I would want 6 teams to have 5 players each, 1 team in each division.

It's good to have dreams, but I don't think this ever happens. There are a # of ex-UK players right now I'm not sure are going to last much longer. Prince, Hayes, Nazr to name 3. Meeks could be gone in a couple years. Personally I'd just be happy to see the Nugget's get one. With them being woeful again since Anthony left that'd be about the only thing to get me to take the trip down, and pay $75 for a decent ticket.

Well okay but I'd rather see a NCAA Championship every 3 years. Cal seems well on his way to accomplishing this task which would of course also get NBA players in places like Portland, San Antonio, NYC etc.

Highly unlikely because of the turnover. It was fun to listen to Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose discuss what a "Cal only" team could do in the NBA. Their conclusion-strong playoff team.

You need longer retention (5 to 6 more years at least) guys to make it happen. Fringe guys like Miller and Lamb won't help the cause because they have a short NBA shelf life and the plus side of the attrition factor only gives UK something like a +1 every season due to losing guys like Teague and Orton from the NBA ranks. So the first thing you have to do is figure out who the longer retention players are verses the fringe NBA guys.

I think about 30-40% of the ten "toss-ups" will have a career longer than 4-5 years in the NBA. That puts Kentucky's current retention of NBA players at 21 for the next 5 years or so. If Cal adds three more long term guys this spring, that puts the list at 24. If Cal adds an average of two longer retention prospects per year for the next three years, Kentucky would then have 31 or 32 NBA guys in the league, which is barely enough to even mathematically be in the ball park for one player per NBA team.
