1,729 transfers. 352 schools.
= 4.9 transfers per school (so far). One from UK (so far)
I wonder how many players per school ran out of eligibility?
The retention rate in programs now can’t be more than say 6 per school. A good portion of those are going to be end of the bench, “along for the ride,” type players, especially at less competitive schools.
I wonder how the retention rate shakes out for high major vs mid-major vs small Div 1? I’m guessing high major teams are/were very “senior” heavy and lose more to expired eligibility.
If Pope retains every kid that was able to be retained (besides Kerr) that seems like a good sign; continuity has grown thin in college basketball, yet continuity is still going to be important for competing at the highest levels. Also, it’s a sign that kids really like to play for Pope and his staff and that UK has the funds to pay those players to stay.
