What an absolute trash of an excuse for this and a reason not to change his strategy.

98% of those kids were getting drafted with or without JVC. For every John Wall there is a player that didn’t get his name called. Did he help them? What about kids that actually came here bc they love KY (if we get any of those anymore, minus Shep)? Does he care about them?

Just changing lives. The OAD mother freakin Theresa Mr John Calipari. Can’t use it as an excuse and a way to sell yourself at the sametime. Total fraud.

The problem is he only thinks of the 10 "kids" he coaches. He doesn't think of the little kid getting to see his first game in Rupp with his dad who has been saving up for one special game only to see us get crapped on by UNC-W. He doesn't think about the kid inside every single one of us remembering watching championship teams with our family's back in 96 and now trying to relive those memories with our kids and grandkids only to see us get embarrassed by St. Peter's and Oakland. He just doesn't care about what makes UK basketball different from the majority of all other college basketball teams.

You can count on one hand the players that played for him that were destitute and needing a hand up. He acts like he's Daddy Warbucks adopting Annie. Actually he's degrading many of the families that were just fine financially and had children that just wanted to play high major basketball.

I agree, UK put players in the pro's long before John Calipari ever showed up. If he really wanted to help, he would learn how to actually develop players who were not going to the NBA after one year. The closest player to that is Reeves, and I can't say Cal had much to do with that as Reeves himself did.

And after the game, that little kids parents will be expected to give more money to the program to other children who are already making 6 figures

yea, good stuff

in order to say *he* put UK players in the NBA All Star game, it comes at the expense of every UK fan who as a kid pretended to be shooting the winning shot with time running out on the clock in his driveway wearing the UK hoodie he got for Xmas, the old farmers who got up every morning to go the local coffee shop to talk about the game last night, the dad who drove 4 hours to Rupp and paid 3X face value for nosebleed seats to share the experience of a game with his child, or the single mom who made the time to stand in line with her kid to get an autograph of a player. Those people don't understand why Cal doesn't get it.

Amen.

We need a coach, he's getting paid to coach, if he wants to help people, he needs to run for office. He is the highest paid humanitarian in the world posing as a coach.

don't forget us old timers that grew up watching Adolph Rupp, wanting to be the next Louie Dampier, or Dan Issel or Mike Pratt. Guys that played when it MEANT something to play for Coach Rup AND the University of Kentucky. Now UK is just a stage coach stop on the trail to the NBA

What a jump from we are going to catch UCLA to look at how much money my players have gotten from the NBA. The guy is a joke. Anyone who supports this clown can go put a wig and makeup on with him.

What he really is saying is that he has made a lot of kids a lot of money. It is all about the money.

You guys are being too hard on Cal. If it were not for Cal, Anthony Davis would NEVER have been a pro. Nor would John Wall or Boogies Cousins. Or KAT and SGA. As I recall, Cal transformed those guys from little known role players who barely started in high school into stars. HE CHANGES LIVES!!!

All the KY players that have made the NBA under Cal would have made it to the NBA even if they had played for the Sisters of the Poor. Each year is like you paid 9 million for a beautiful new shiny sports car and get it home and it doesen't run, you take it back to were you bought it and the guy says I only bring these beautiful cars in I don't know a thing about making them run.

Exactly!
Triple C is such a clown.

Julius Randall was interviewed a few weeks ago speaking up for Cal, saying essentially that Cal is there for his ex players. JR is an NBA star and big name, so of course Cal answers the phone when he calls. I know for a fact, Cal isn’t that generous with his time/favors for all his ex players who don’t make the NBA and/or his “friends “ that he has known for decades. He burns a lot of bridges if ya can’t do anything for him, unless of course it will make the papers. Just my impression from people closer to the situation than me. In all fairness, Cal has always been pleasant the few times I have met him.
