‘25 4* Braydon Hawthorne visiting UK on Wed

Some people think longer term than just next season. You apparently aren't one of them.

Dude, I’m all for thinking long term. But this guy is no better than Trent Noah, and Noah already has a year of experience on him. Oweh will leave after this season, and either Kam Williams will become the new starter and we go portaling for an experienced backup, or Williams will fail to win the starting job and will remain #2 while we go portaling for a starter. Either way, this young man will be 4th string SF. And that’s if Mo D. doesn’t get any minutes at the 3 spot at all, which I’m not convinced he won’t. Not just this coming year, but the year after as well. So spare me the condescension please.

Edit: I’m aware this kids game is totally different from Noah’s. I’m just talking from a talent standpoint relative to those ahead of him on the depth chart. Noah gives up 3” to him but is FORTY FIVE POUNDS heavier. Think about that. SEC would break this guy.

Respectfully you have no idea if this guy is better than Trent. Love Trent and think he will contribute but this guy could be way better.

Exactly.

Retention and development.

The more guys you can get that might stay, the more that could stick around and develop.

Remember when Pope played, Pitino had so many developmental players he had to start a JV.
With college sports these days, the only thing for semi-sure is when the season starts, none of your guys are leaving (until next yr at least)- players are going to schools for 1 yr and then looking for better- look at the Tenn QB situation for example- when Pitino coached UK, those were way different times in college sports

Let’s let Pope decide who we want and who fits. I thought we were done in the frontcourt and then he gets Jelavic. Shows me I have no clue.

Sounds like Pope is going to fill all 15 possible scholarships.
Agreed. Some folks on here act like they should have executive decision on roster additions.

This kid over Perry and Noah for sure just due to athleticism. Perry and Noah need to be redshirting anyways so they can work hard to improve ... like Noah's athleticism (get some roids in you boy) and Perry's ball handling

Fair

Stop doggn Noah and Perry. They are doing exactly what is expected. Trying to get better and help this team. They belong here. They have done nothing to not warrant their spot. They belong. I will have their back through senior night!
Who is dogging Noah & Perry? Unless someone deleted their post, I don’t see that. I’m all for taking this kid if Pope thinks he has potential. Rising four star talents are the kinds that often turn into major stars as sophomores and juniors.

No worries. Just found a spot. To say my take. Lol

Odd to me that everyone complains about players leaving early or hitting the portal and young inexperienced teams. Now we have the opportunity to possibly get a developing 4* player that could be here 2 or 3 years. Young 6'8" still developing talented players don't grow on trees. By the time he's 20 years old his weight will be completely different, as well as his strength. Walter McCarty came in taller and similar weight.

He’s the perfect developmental piece, quick riser but won’t expect massive PT his first year. These seems like a stash away prospect for 2026-2027.
I agree, nice developmental piece for depth and player retention. Also agree with above sentiments, Pope knows what he needs to fill out the roster to his liking, and trusting him with this process.

The same Perry that played that played 9 games with over 10 minutes per game. The same Perry that played, in 2 game against Bama on 2-22 and 3-14 a total of 58:15 minutes with a total of 2 turnovers, 4 steals, or the 2-19 game when he played 26:15 minutes with 2 assist 3 turn overs and 1 steal vs Vandy. I don't mean to be rude but he and Noah are not 5 star player, but players that want to be at UK for a few years.

He only sets two visits

Seems that we are top 2 for him now

Think he will play a bigger role in WVU, will not come here

But if we can find a way to grab him, it will be a very great get

NBA potential, great size and athleticism, great feel and touch for game, just lacks some strength. Will definitely be contributor in year 2

I personally would rather have him than Wilkerson. Wilkerson looks like a defensive liability and with Jasper and Chandler, I don’t think he is going to be playing in late March. This guy could develop into a serious piece next year. If he gains 15 good pounds in 16 months, look out. With him and Williams on the wing, good things are likely to happen.

Add Wilkerson this weekend and then this guy next week and we are probably done, unless someone leaves/decommits.

PG Lowe/Johnson/Perry
SG Wilkerson/Chandler
SF Oweh/Williams/Hawthorne
PF Dioubate/Jelavic/Noah
C Quaintance/Garrison/Moreno

One spot left open in case someone becomes available later this spring or summer that you can’t pass up.
