WKU?

10-5 ...won 2-1 vs Purdue over the weekend. Thoughts? Biggest test since TCU l think.

Nope. That is UNC Wilmington. Purdue is 7-7 and has basically lost to most all decent opponents in their first 14.

Western Kentucky is hitting .291 as a team and has a team ERA of 5.23. Junior Riley Boyd has started their midweek games... he has been bad in 2 of 3 of those with a 7.82 ERA in 12.2 innings. He pitched 0.2 innings on Sunday, so they may have decided to change his role. They have a guy who they started on the weekends, but he has an ERA over 9.00, and they may have booted him off weekends... so he could be sent to midweek. Regardless, UK should face a pitcher that has struggled.

The big deal will be whether UK can limit their hitters. They have 5 guys hitting over .315, so they can swing the bats. They are not a power team with just 11 home runs on the year, but they hit doubles for days (38). That number would rank 2nd in the SEC. So, limit the balls thrown up in the zone that can find the gaps or they might be hitting a lot of doubles in our big park.

I look for it to be a bit of a shootout, but I think the UNCW pitching is probably much much better than the pitching we will see from WKU tomorrow.

WKU took 2 out of 3 (6-2, 7-2, 5-9) against Wright State (slayer of Tennessee in Knoxville last weekend) in Bowling Green towards the end of February. Cats better not be looking ahead to Vandy.
