First the bad:

Bradshaw was a non factor. He looked out of place and weak. His minutes appeared to suffer as a result.

Ugo needs to stay planted on the floor. He's still falling for pump fakes. When he doesn't fall for it, he blocks a shot.

Our rebounding sucked. Three rebounds from our 7-footers is a disgrace. We need Adou back badly.

Edwards is still too enamored with the three point shot. For his size and position, there is no excuse for getting outrebounded by Sheppard.

Now the good:

Shep and Dilly were stellar - 10 assists and 5 steals against three turnovers between them. Shep actually had THREE blocks - there was a long jumper that he got a piece of and it went airball, and they didn't give him the block.

Wagner was better, and he clearly got a message from somebody about finishing layups with his right hand.

Reeves was a man possessed. He clearly had some motivation going up against his old team and it showed.

Mitchell - boy do we need him with our 7-footers underachieving. 10 rebounds and his usual, solid presence, like a rock.

Conclusion:

Overall we are deadly on offense but on defense we still lack inside strength. We're decent but in a tournament situation it could bite us. At this point we're not playing like a 1 or 2 seed. I'd like to see that change. My opinion is that other than our 7 footers, Edwards needs to take this more seriously. He might be our missing link. If we had Mitchell, Thiero, Ugo, Edwards, and AB all crashing the boards, we could be unstoppable.

Wagner's shot looked so much better...not rushed, more of a push.

Ugo with 3 blocks in 10 mins, 2 in 8 mins last game. Needs 22-25 mins.
Noticed the same about Wagner's shot: 2 he hit were fluid and smooth as silk; the one he missed had more of a cock and release look to it

It's not just Ugo that goes for pump fakes. Just about the whole team does. I'd imagine that's something that's hard to coach out of a player. It's just instinctual to do that. Hopefully Thiero heals up because we're gonna need him with conference play coming up. I'm more concerned about our rebounding and blocking out than I am our defense right now.

He missed 1 left handed layup because it got blocked. His 4 misses were a 3 pointer, two jumpers, and 1 left handed layup that got blocked by a help defender at 15:32 in the 2nd half.
Does a block count as a miss?

It sure does, that’s why I said “He missed 1 left handed layup because it got blocked.” in the first line. I was pointing out that he didn’t outright miss the layup, it got blocked. It’s just funny because you first acted like he made all these right handed layups and acted like he blew a bunny. Keep trying, I’m sure you’ll eventually find something of substance to be negative about.

I stopped reading at "it sure does." Thanks for agreeing that I was right, the rest, troll who just started his account Thursday, is useless smoke.

I would start Adou over Bradshaw.

Would makes us a better lineup overall .

Better rebounder than Bradshaw and really just a better overall player.

Every player but Wagner has a higher defensive rebound % than Bradshaw. Is he another Skal?
I thought y’all said he was another Shaedon Sharpe. Now he could be another Skal? Why can’t he just be Aaron Bradshaw playing in his 5th game?

I never could wrap my head around the majority of our fans saying Ugo wouldn’t contribute this season. All the while, knowing we severely lacked a shot blocker. Been saying all offseason that he’s far and away our best shot blocker. Not only that, he’s an ELITE shot blocker. Natural.

I for one have agreed w/ everyone of the posts you made touting Ugo, and even generated a couple myself. Now he just needs to give us more help on the boards, even though it may lower his block #'s a bit.

Exactly. It was quite easy to see how great of a shot blocker he was, even early last season. He just has that excellent timing that can’t be taught.

He showed a knack for rebounding too last season.

So I’m not giving up on that now.

And he moves so much better now. He’s not planted in the paint.

He’s going to be much more help than I thought. And he accepts his role.

This is a very good team that’s getting better every day.
