How many games does Kansas have to lose for it to affect
them at all? Ridiculous...all due to an overrated Big 12. Kansas should
not be any higher than a 3 seed for the tourney but they'll be one of
the top 2 seeds. One idiot was even arguing why they should still be
considered a #1 seed. Just crazy!!

Haven't you heard that KU won their conference title, they can stay into the Top 25 with 15 losses because of that noble accomplishment against top flight competition.

The same thing happened with KU last year...they lost a lot, but got respect as a 2 seed. Flamed out early, albeit without Embiid playing.

This sounds bad at face value but it's a weird year for college basketball. It's hard to find many teams that should be ranked ahead of either. Just behind Kansas is Northern Iowa, Notre Dame, Wichita State, Iowa State and Louisville. I personally think Kansas is better, or should be ranked higher than all of them. Just behind UNC is SMU, Arkansas, Butler, Georgetown, Davidson, and Boise State. You could easily put Arkansas ahead of them but beyond that, it's full of mid majors. I mean Stephen F Austin, Valparaiso and North Florida all received votes.

KU always gets treated with kid gloves when they lose. They had essentially the same regular season as we did last year, yet they were gifted a #2 seed while we were stuck with a #8 seed.

The voters have an unusual love affair with the Big 12.

We all know that Kansas isn't all that good. They aren't in the top 10 because they are really good. They are in the top 10 because they are better than everyone ranked behind them.

The only top 25 teams with fewer losses than KU are Northern Iowa (#11 with 3 losses), Notre Dame (#12 with 5 losses), Wichita St. (#13 with 4 losses), SMU (#20 with 6 losses), and Davidson (#24 with 6 losses).

Do you actually think one of those teams would be favored against Kansas on a neutral court?
Here are the strength of schedule (SoS) rankings for Kansas and these teams:

School SoS Rank
Kansas 1
UNI 106
ND 70
WSU 100
SMU 86
Davidson 99

Does this make it clear why Kansas is in the top 10? Everyone else has either lost more than them or has played a DRASTICALLY weaker schedule than they have (or both).

Went all the back on the AP poll to the 2002-2003 season and it has happened a few times before after week 18.

2010- Ohio State ranked 5th with seven losses
2012- Michigan state ranked 8th and Michigan ranked 10th with 8 losses
2013- Michigan state ranked 10th with 7 losses
2014- Kansas ranked 8th with 7 losses

Notre Dame has played a good schedule, beat Duke, MSU, and UNC. All 5 losses for a total of 40 points

Kansas has more good wins but they have 7 losses and 2 of their losses alone were by a total of 57 points.

Without Alexander is Kansas better than ND? Again ND beat Duke at full strength...

The media has a Big 10 boner this year, and a KU boner almost all years.

Which team has a better resume?

Team 1
24-72 RPI7-4 vs. RPI top 2511-6 vs RPI top 5017-7 vs RPI top 100Losses to 1, 34, 11, 45, 20, 13, 84
Team 2
26-59 RPI2-1 vs RPI top 255-3 vs RPI top 5010-5 vs RPI top 100Losses to 6, 39, 40, 57, 59
Team 3
26-524 RPI3-3 vs RPI top 255-3 vs RPI top 5010-5 vs RPI top 100Losses to 23, 6, 3, 66, 67

I don't think it's close by any objective measure. Team 2 and 3's record is only better because their schedule was much easier.

Kansas was #1 in the RPI up until 2 weeks ago, you would have to trust the RPI rankings to give validity to the RPI top 25, 50, and100.

Last year's rankings or any other season's rankings are completely irrelevant.

Also, Kansas is ranked higher in Kenpom and all 91 bracket predictors I looked at.

Kansas has the toughest schedule by a wide margin. That's why they are ranked that high despite 7 losses.
