At the moment, I don't see a scenario where the benefits of keeping Cal outweigh the loss of fan confidence, brand recognition, NIL opportunities, donors, ticket sales, and more over the remaining contract term.


There's more to the Calipari situation than just the $33 million owed. As football fans, we know how long it can take to start filling a stadium after a program loses the fans. I can't remember how long it took Stoops to average Brooks-level attendance after the Joker years, but it was a long while.


There's a lot at play here. Mitch is damned if he does fire and damned if he doesn't. The wrong move(s) could turn UK into Indiana or UCLA, but I think the writing is on the wall for CJC. The question we have to ask as a fanbase, as I see it, is this: do we guarantee falling into obscurity with new age Cal or take a chance on a new coach to forestall/ prevent that scenario? Yeah, it'll suck, but I've run a couple mental cost/benefit analyses, and the math ain't mathing with the current trajectory. I'm afraid Cal is too set in his ways to correct course.

I would call it money from the “UK community,” whether public or private or some of each..

Presumably, there is some finite level of money from all sources to support our athletic programs.

I’m not satisfied with Cal, but in a season in which we finished second in a very competitive SEC, have the incoming second ranked recruiting class, nationally, and won more than 25 games, I can’t justify risking an amount of money that would easily rank in the top 5 expenditures in the history of UK athletics.

Should we be desperately seeking change, as some suggest, citing loss of revenue, NIL support, etc,?

Don’t give me opinion, give me facts!!!!

How much revenue, how many recruits, and how much NIL potential was lost because of prior seasons with an early exit from the tourney? If it is so damn certain after this season, there should be solid numbers showing a downward trend from the last 4 seasons.

Absent hard numbers showing a trend (recruits backing out, program sponsors threatening to pull $$, advertisers dropping the University, etc., etc.,) this is all just emotion-based, knee-jerk reaction to a season that is not even in the bottom half of our lengthy tradition.
