Zion Williamson vs I.Quickly at 8:50est

Quickley having an off-game. Zion has unreal lift. He blocks shots like AD.

I've always felt the same, and wonder at how coaches separate the wheat from the chaff where performances are against loose defenses and inferior athletes.
Good point. I would say they see flashes of what they are looking for.

I'm still doing mental gymnastics trying to figure out how LaMelo Ball is ranked as highly as he is. From the videos I've seen he's a poor shooting and athletically below-average guard who won't pass the ball to save his life. Scoring 25 a game doesn't mean much if it takes 40 shots or not playing defense to get it. I guess that's why I'm not a coach.

I think there was a lot of projection involved with that rating, as in "oh, he's going to grow to be as tall as his brother, and the shot-selection will get better". That's not happening, so you'll probably see him plunge in the ratings.

It's partly because who his brother, but mostly because his dad is the coach and all the kid is required to do is hunt shots. He scores a lot but shoots a lot more.

Because you've only watched videos and highlights. He is a very good player and very young. Yes he does take bad shots but he is a very good shooter and leads a team of mostly end up bench H.S players over teams that have at least 8 D1 guys. Many forget he's only 15

His ranking only has to do with his brother in regard to being able to be seen. His talent and how he has outplayed other older guys is why he is ranked where he is after being seen. He does take bad shots (no different than some of the shots Monk and other shooting guards took while in H.S). And he's better than Tra Young at the same age, a kid who took these same bad shots as a Sr that Ball takes as a soph

I think that's what I said.

No offense to you, but let's just hope this kid isn't one of the best in the class. We all have had way too much Ball family talk and would like to go back to when college basketball talk wasn't just how well the kid played compared to what crazy comment the dad made. I know the kid is young, but the elite passing doesn't look to be in this kid's future. Then again, the kid has never tried to pass the ball to others so we may never know.
