Zagoria: GM Survey on Okafor and Towns

another question..

Isn't Julius Randle eligible to be ROY? Since he only played 14min last season? I'm pretty sure Noel was eligible his 2nd year but he didn't play a min while recovering from the knee injury.....

I believe so. I know Blake griffin was.

funny people tried to argue with me earlier in the year on here that JR would be eligible. i guess that settles it.

Griffin, of course, didn't play any the year he hurt his knee. That is why he was eligible.

Greg Oden was also eligible the year after he had microfracture surgery. Because he, too, like Griffin, didn't see any action that year.

People keep acting- and this went on last season, too- that Okafor is the guy in the present and Towns is the future, but I think KAT is the better player right now.

What could hurt Okafor is if Philly doesn't improve any. If their wins/losses stay about the same he may not get the votes for ROY, especially with his poor defense. I don't know if it will be KAT, but he's got a shot at it if Minnesota can sneak into the playoffs... or at least contend late into the season.

I agree. I think Okafor wins ROY because the offense will essentially be run through him. He'll get all the shots he wants. Towns has to deal with Minnesota having a ton of shot jacking wings in LaVine, Wiggins, Muhammad, and Martin.
That should actually help his offensive rebounding and even points (with putbacks) numbers tremendously. As long as he's getting position for the offensive board, his stats should be gaudy.
