John Calipari to Meet With Bam Adebayo – Again http://zagsblog.com/recruiting/john-calipari-to-meet-with-bam-adebayo-again/… via @adamzagoria

Calipari will meet Tuesday with Adebayo’s mother and will then come see the 6-foot-10 Adebayo for a second time at High Point (N.C.) Christian Academy, High Point Christian coach Brandon Clifford told SNY.tv. The Kentucky coach visited Adebayo a week ago.

“His message was pretty simple,”Clifford said after the first visit. “Mainly about how he and UK could get Bam to where he ultimately wants to be. That along with the types of things that come with being a part of the Kentucky program.”

Kentucky recently offered the 6-foot-10 power forward, and Adebayo
told SNY.tv last month in New York that he might visit Kentucky. No visit date has been set.

Have to look at this as a positive sign. Bam must like some of the things he's hearing from the staff.

Think Bam is more athletic. Giles is a better ball player.....or so I have read. Personally, I like Bam's game a lot. He looked great in that most recent all-star game.

Is there a big gap between Giles and Bam?
Yes.

If people want to deny that, then they're fooling themselves. Giles has NBA superstar written all over him- he's a guy who would be considered athletically gifted even if he were 9 inches shorter (but he's 6'10"). Adebayo is an explosive big guy, but he's not in Giles' class.

Adebayo scores his points off transition dunks and by going out and grabbing rebounds and scoring in the post. Giles can create his own offense. In that NY outdoor "all-star" game recently (can't recall the name of the event - Elite 24?) the announcers said that his high school teams never ran any plays for him but you look at the box score and he would end up with double doubles.

In college the gap between Giles and Adebayo might not be that great. But in the NBA Giles has the size/skill combo to be a top-5 NBA player in 5-10 years.

I agree that in the NBA, Giles overall talent will help him become an instant NBA star. I wouldn't mind to see Bam come to My over Giles. We will have the guards and hopefully sf to do damage. We just need a big to grab rebounds and put backs. If that guy can jump out of the gym, even better. In the end, we probably don't end up with either so it doesn't really matter.

Sounds good... Would be nice to score another big. That would put him with Sacha Killeya-Jones, Zach Humphries, and Tai Wynyard. Will Marcus Lee leave for the NBA after this season, or do you think he will not be ready? If he leaves, UK would still have talent and some depth in the frontcourt, but once again, young.

Either way, hope we pick him up, but he will be a tough one to pull from NC State... Plus, it might be best to not make them mad, haha.

The more I see of Adebayo, the more I like.

He is aggressive. He attacks the rim with power. Seems to have a high motor.

I would really like to have him alongside SKJ.

Would be almost as difficult to land him as Giles. I'd settle for Bridges, and deal with a good, not great, frontcourt for a season with another superior assortment of backcourt and wing talents. Cal got to the 2008 title game with the likes of Dozier and Dorsey in his front line. We don't need Anthony Davis every year to have a shot at a Final Four.

Even though you don't need a Davis type of talent in the frontcourt every year to win it all, it sure would be nice to have Davis in our frontcourt every year. Haha. I don't think Giles will make an impact like Davis. That's not to talk bad about the kid. I don't think we will see another big as good as Davis in college basketball for a long time. Not Giles nor Skal will be as good as Davis. He's special and if you could recruit guys as good as him every year, it wouldn't even be fair to Play against a Cal coached/recruited team.

This probably means Cal knows we aren't getting Giles. I know. I know. He's going to Duke. A guy can hope can't he.

I doubt this has anything to do with Giles. Bam is a raw gritty high-motor rebounding post player. Giles is a skilled finessed 4-man. They can easily coexist and Cal would gladly take both.

I also doubt we get either. But no harm in trying.
