He went 1 inning in his return from injury, then went 3 innings at UT, was spectular throwing 51 pitches. I suspect he throws somewhere around 75 pitches today. If he could gives us 5 plus innings of solid work, we could with a decent bullpen performance, sneak out another win.
I think maybe Machamer could go 2/3 or a full inning, if necessary, but would rather save him for tomorrow, and maybe get 2 innings if needed .... Thoughts

Bats will need to put up 6 + runs both days to have a chance to win.
But yes I just hope Thompson can give us a good outing if that's 3 innings that's fine. If he can give us 5 that's a bonus.

In the video of the post game interview with Coach Mingione last night, he indicated that Thompson could go over 50 today, so I suspect you're right on it with your suggestion that he might throw up to 75 pitches today. TV commentator last night suggested that would be the target, and have to guess he didn't pull that number out of the air. If Thompson throws well and UK is ahead or close, have to think they throw the best guys available, whether that's Harper, Ramsey, Coleman, or others. It's been mentioned that Haake and Lewis are not available this weekend, but no mention regarding whether Coleman is available. Would be a great weekend for the bats to stay alive all three games. I'm with you and hope they can rest Machamer after he threw about 35 last night.

Hopeful for 7 from Zack and the bats being on fire because without Lewis tomorrow it is a crap shoot... today is probably as much of a must win as it gets as far as this series is concerned.

I agree. Really need to get 5+ out of Zach today, and then it's probably a committee approach with Ramsey, Coleman, etc behind him. Can't imagine Mach coming in today, as he did two full innings last night after going multiple innings on Tuesday night.

All I have to say is the offense needs to be on for both games. I'd love to see a big lead early rather than loading the bases and hitting into a double play and scoring just 1.

Grandson and I are in the house... Got here about 3:30 and the wifey order tickets for Friday nights game, but they let us on anyway. Great seats under cover up high and to the right of HP..His first UK bb game. Cliff Hagan sitting just to our left.. GOCATS!!!
