Some people are already giving up on this team. Really? You know NOTHING about college football. This team will still make it to a bowl game and probabaly upset someone on the way. ITS ONE LOSS. HOLY COW. Some act like its the end of the program. We werent supposed to win that game yet had plenty of chances to do so.

If we had an offense it would have been over. We were a dropped touchdown catch away from a WIN. Who would have thought our offense was our weak point this year? Noone. Thats why if we can figure out something offensively we can be dangerous. I admit i was WRONG in thinking we woukd easily beat this Gator team. But i do believe one play can change the flow of a game. And that dropped TD catch did just that. It was a 14 point swing. And thus defense allowed 1 TD after that. We are a dangerous team, thats just fact. What we arent is consistant, which if can be fixed, 8-4 is still possible.

Stay strong BBN. 1 loss means nothing. We have the same record as the #2 team in the country(not #2 much longer). Its way to early to give up. WAYYYYYYYY too early.

I'm sure Florida would like to have that 1st down end zone interception back too. It cuts both ways.

That wasnt a 14 point swing. And it wasnt the beginning of the game. My point is the whole game would have had a different feeling at 7-0 rather than 0-7. Get it now?

I agree.

I just really, really hope this loss doesn't totally deflate the fan base. The atmosphere for the game last night was the best I've ever seen. Period. It was an atmosphere you would expect from a school that plays football in the SEC. This needs to be more than just a one time thing, though, and I'm concerned that not winning last night has taken some of the air out of the fan base.

I, and most fans, get what you are saying. Most are not giving up. Most will be watching and cheering.
But also, most have seen this same scenerio for many, many years. The emotional invest has been dampened and won't return unless we beat Mizzu. And we need to beat them while playing a decent game.
A conservative, back door win, won't impress the masses.
Pat must improve or be pulled

Sadly, the reality is that wins create atmosphere, and visa versa (sometimes). One announcer said UK died "the death of 1000 cuts" with all the things they did to themselves. He said it wasn't so much that Florida won, as much as it was UK lost it.

TTU - I don't think people are giving up on this team. I think what people are feeling is frustration with the lack of progress in year 3 with the top recruits now being sophomores and juniors depending on RS status. We have seen improvement from the Joker era, but we are also seeing a lot of the same stuff.

* 4 star QB's (Mossakowski and Newton) prior and now Towles and Barker who are both 4 stars but are we seeing 4 star results and development?

* Hot local recruits come in like Timmons, Hatcher, and Elam(realize Elam is young and only in year 2) and fans are asking where are they on the field?

* Receivers still have problems catching the ball which we saw in the Joker era. Is it players or coaching? Can they do it in practice but not under the bright lights?

* Lack of oline development over the last 10 years. Outside of Warford how many olinemen went to the NFL? Why don't our linemen develop physically in our S&C program - strength and size wise?

What fans want to see is hope. Hope for improvement, hope for competing against the best and beating the best. Last time we had that was with Brooks when Woodson was here along with Little, Keenan, Wesley, Stevie... That team had heart but it also had leadership. This team right now does not have leaders on the field, and to prove my point name them? The other thing is the coaches don't look prepared and constantly talk about miscommunication when they make errors. Last night with 3:20 on the clock we have 3 timeouts, and rather than calling a TO and saving 40 seconds Stoops let's time run down to 2:40. We then have less time to work our 2 minute drill, and end up leaving 2 TO's in our pocket to end the game. Stoops has to know that when you are on offense a first down stops the clock so use it there to save the team time and less panic. What we saw last night was a team that a year earlier moved the ball against Florida at Florida but at home and a year older could do nothing on offense.

Thanks for your rational comment. Great post on a day when there aren't very many of those.

UK isn't a particularly dangerous team to good teams. The defense isn't very good and the o-line is pretty bad. Expectations should be tempered from winning the East this year, but that doesn't mean UK isn't a bowl team. I think it would take something really terrible to keep this team out of a bowl game. That is improvement. That is something most of us would have been thrilled to see when Joker was at UK. You have to learn to crawl before you can learn to walk. At least UK isn't still laying on the ground.

AMEN!

It's like this on Rupps Rafters but x10. Some people just don't have the ability to be rational. After every loss the sky is always falling. UK will be fine. There are some teams that obviously will cause us problems but this team still has a very good chance of playing well and making a bowl game. Lets judge these guys at the end of the year.

Not since 2007 has the fan base, the team or administration thought before the game that UK had a realistic shot to beat UF. A triple OT loss last year, a new stadium and rising expectations gave everyone a feeling UK would win last night.

I would think 99.9% of us would have said holding UF to 14 would have meant a double digit UK win. GAa losing some battles on the OL as a true freshman is to be expected in league play. Baker in back to back games has 2 huge drops, but is only a true sophomore.

Swindle is at his ceiling as a SEC OL. Barker can make some throws and you just say, "Wow." He can also make some throws where you scratch your head and say, "Wow". His pocket awareness just isn't where it needs to be for a junior in college. He never steps up and he ALWAYS reverse out to his right.

I hate not being at the game because you can't see the field on TV. Was dawson calling screens and the defense read them? Where the UF DBs taking away slant patterns? Did UK try to utilize swing passes to RB as an extension of the run game?

I'd like for someone to walk me through the plays inside the 5 when UK ran between the tackles and lost yards. Was this the same series where he missed Bone of a slant in the end zone? What series was it in the 4th where PT over threw Baker on a slant? That was in the 4th as well. Last drive?

I'm open for discussion but does Dawson trust Patrick?

The bottom line is this. You hold a team at home to 14 points, you gotta friggin' win that game. We didn't even score a touchdown. Is our offense supposed to carry our defense, or did we have it ass backwards?

If your like most UK fans you expect a Florida loss and it's no big deal....It's a way of life for about 80% of us. And for others well there is always next year...

Stoops' first full recruiting class are Sophomores and RS freshman. I'm not holding the 2013 class against him - he actually pulled some miracles off to end that class.

Speak for yourself. That is just a terrible take. Hopefully most of us have a much better perspective. If the coaches had your attitude, we would lose every game.

Fans have every right to be upset. We've lost to one team for 29 straight years and this was clearly the year to beat them. UF isn't very good, and if players and coaches bring their A- Game (or frankly, their B- game would have been enough last night), then we win.

Good post. The play calling and coaching decisions were especially troubling.

It's not one loss. It's 29 losses. But nice try, pal.

At the beginning of the season I said we win 5-7 wins.

Now realistically this team should win no less than 7 with a possibility of 8 or 9 with some luck.

I'm still very excited to be where we are.

I honestly believe RR gets a ton of trolls on it. Especially after losses. I know we have bad fans, like every fan base, but I have a hard time believing we have that many. People need to learn to ignore some of it.
