Interesting how our rival fan bases state they really respected us a lot more before Cal arrived; yea I can sure see their points. In the immediate years before Cal became our coach we were:

0-5 vs UNC
0-3 vs Kansas
4-7 vs Vanderbilt
2-8 vs Florida
3-4 vs Louisville
2-2 vs Indiana
5-3 vs Tennessee

Under Cal:

4-2 vs UNC
3-0 vs Kansas
11-3 vs Vanderbilt
11-5 vs Florida
8-1 vs Louisville
3-1 vs Indiana
9-2 vs Tennessee

We have a great coach...

Darryl

Thanks for sharing. Really puts things into perspective.

Also...Stack those head-to-head game facts on top of the facts that we have been to four Final Fours, Two Championship games, and won one National Title in Cal's 6 years at UK…and you realize that we are lucky to have Cal at the helm.

Name me one college coach who has accomplished that type of post season success in their first 6 years at their school???

(((Shhhhh…if you keep it on the down low then I'll give you a hint…you can't. Because such a coach doesn't exist.)))

Any stats that include the BCG years is unfair to the program and the fans. The numbers are skewed, it should be like when coach K had a bad back(stricken from the record books):sunglasses:

You can try to blame it all on bcg but he was only here two years. A lot if that happened during the tubby years.

How many years back did you go? Those Vandy and UF numbers are eye popping.

I'd like to know too. Are all those games from the exact same time period? I don't think they are because the gator games go back to '05 where they began their 6 in a row streak (their title years) However we beat them 7 or 8 in a row immediately before that.

Not trying to defend anyone, just a light jab at BCG who should have never been here in the first place.

Numbers bad but was it the same number of years against all teams or extra for some when results were bad? Not sure what the point is? Shot at previous coaches? Certainly everyone knows the success Cal had. Nothing will justify the ff failures however.

Had K not won last year, Cal would have no equal since his arrival here.

Plenty of people want you to think though that Cal underachieves with top recruiting classes, including Finebaum.

yeah been looking it up. Like I was saying the UF record includes the last two '05-'06 games but not the win that happened the same season. The UL record goes back to '02 and stops at the 3 straight wins before that. The vandy record goes back to '04, stops before you could include the 22 of 23 we won immediately prior. Hell Tubby went 15-1 against vandy before that record above.

If the point is that '06-'09 sucked I think we're all aware.

If I remember correctly at first many people said you could not win big with Freshman no matter how good they were, now they want to say you shouldn't lose with all those talented Freshman. :flushed:

This post should be pinned at the top of this board for all of those posters that complain about Coach Cal.

His record against the teams our fans love to beat should give him a lifetime contract of good will with everyone!!

CAL IS THE BEST!!!

I counted the past 14 seasons, 7 years before and Cal's tenure of 6+ years under his belt so far. These are those numbers.

2-5 vs UNC
0-3 vs Kansas
8-7 vs Vanderbilt
8-8 vs Florida
3-4 vs Louisville
5-2 vs Indiana
12-3 vs Tennessee
7-2 vs LSU
2-0 vs WVU
0-1 vs UConn
1-0 vs Wisconsin

Under Cal:

4-2 vs UNC
3-0 vs Kansas
10-3 vs Vanderbilt
11-5 vs Florida
8-1 vs Louisville
3-1 vs Indiana
9-2 vs Tennessee
8-1 vs LSU
2-1 vs WVU
1-3 vs UConn
1-1 vs Wisconsin

And YES, we do have a great coach...

Actually, there is one coach in the entire history of CBB who had a better first 6 years. That was ol' Hucklberry at UNC. Cal is a close second.

Now, we can modify that statement a little - if you exclude coaches whose players have never seen the inside of a classroom, Cal has had the best first 6 years at a new school in the history of CBB.

^^ we are 1-3 against UCONN. Beat them at Madison Square Garden in Cals 1st year. The other ones still sting though.
