Deleted the last thread - you can continue on this one but it needs to be a civil discussion. I understand a lot of you are frustrated on how recruitment is shaping up but we can do better and not use foul language to get our points across.

Thank you. The other thread was getting way off topic with nothing about the recruit. Just bickering and attacking other posters. Hope this thread does better and becomes more informative about chances of getting Yaxel.

This dude is supposed to be one of the ones who is basically can’t miss at this point. Regardless we should not let anyone out bid us for him as he is a priority by all accounts. If we wanna compete in this climate we have to win some big recruitments eventually right?

Funny thing is I was listening to some of the pod casts out there and some of the guys pronouncing his name, or trying to, sounded like Surge from the original Beverly Hills Cop movie trying to pronounce Axel Foley in a thick accent. Just cracks me up. Had to fit something in here to get it off my brain. Ax-well, Ax-smell.... then just says Foley. But the last name for this guy is just as bad as Charles Barkley trying to say terrible, (turrible).

IDC how smart Pope is and how very good some of schemes are, we can't win the way we want to win (and Pope needs to win) with "meh" talent. Ten loss Tubby/S16 seasons are going to wear thin in two more seasons. I think if our roster looks similar this next season and the results are similar the volume will be louder. He's got to land some big fish, that's just all there is to it.

It has become apparent that Coach Pope is not willing to give a transfer portal big name MORE money than he is giving Oweh. That has to be the ONLY explanation for EVERY top 5 ranked player going elsewhere even AFTER Coach Pope meets with them.

I am glad you did this DraftCat there is some on here is all they want to do is bicker back and forth and ruin the threads. If they want to do that they should message each other and do that on message. Just talk recruiting or basketball stuff. Not calling anyone out.
Do we expect any of the usual suspects to play by the rules when the NIL settlement (possibly) happens on 4/7? What is preventing teams from already double dipping on NIL? How about just flat out paying extra under the table in handshake deals? It is hard to detect extra cash, free luxury housing, new vehicles, etc. when players are making a lot of legit NIL money. It will be almost impossible for outside observers to parse out legit NIL money from pay-for-play in the new environment. You can bet the certain SEC and ACC teams are already at the forefront of rules breaking to get the players they want.

You’re right. He said it and if he doesn’t deliver then he will take flack. Words have meaning and BBN doesn’t forget. I will certainly be disappointed if he doesn’t.
Either way, he will take flack from some no matter who he lands. I hope the class ends up being an upgrade over the departing starters, or this place will be miserable. I wouldn’t blame people for being disappointed.
