Yep! He posted it on twitter. Congrats to the kid, and good pickup for us! Shaping up to be a very good class!

Re: Yahtzee Possible Dakota Holtzclaw. 6'7" receiver

"It was extremely exciting [to receive the offer], definitely one of my favorite offers. They love my size and speed. They want me as an outside wide receiver."
His visit to Lexington did not disappoint.
"I loved the coaches and the new facilities are going to be great. The offense really fits me and it was just a great experience," he finished.

Re: Yahtzee Possible Dakota Holtzclaw. 6'7" receiver

Rowland also listed the siE of all our receivers. Gonna be a tall group!!!

SWEEEEEET! I love this prospect. And he can punt too.

Good size, nice hands and decent speed. Looks raw, hopefully he can RS. Something to build on there.

We will now have the unstoppable offense. Let all of our receivers run to the corner of the end zone. Just throw it up for grabs, and one of our receivers will come down with it every time.

You've seen him play, then? Cool! Tell us more.

Re: Yahtzee Possible Dakota Holtzclaw. 6'7" receiver

That is a very good 40 time for a kid that size 4.57. He said that they took him to a UK basketball game and he said that is the first time at 6'7" he had ever felt short. It seems the coaching staff is on a mission to get size at the WR positions.

Just an opinion based on film which I admit can be misleading.

Re: Yahtzee Possible Dakota Holtzclaw. 6'7" receiver

C1180- I agree 100%. 4.57 speed at that height is a lot different than a small scatback running that time. Having that size AND speed is 2 huge weapons to have against any secondary.

Doubt it. Don't think he has a tight end build. High center of gravity, skinny legs. Great length, good hands, better than average speed for a large SEC receiver.

google search any kids name with " kids name hudl" and you can find highlights of any of these kids. those of you that keep posting question of these kids ability and others observation, take the 3 minutes to actually watch them and then post comments.

this kid has good top end speed but isn't gonna win many 20 yard sprints. he has really good hands and can go up high for catches in a group.

We will have a lot of long receivers, and most of them are considered high upside players. There will be competition, and the cream will rise to the top. Watching development of our offensive line, so Towels and Barker will have time to throw to them.

No. They're all slow as can be and can't catch a football. They are just tall people that we recruited for the hell of it.

It is like it is with all recruits. We will just have to wait to see how they transition to the next level after high school. It is a big jump. Some will make it some will not. Let hope a big percentage can make the jump.

Nice observation/projection
The quote above says UK has told him they want him as a outside WR. Most likely for jump ball situations in the endzone!

The Bear did it a Bama and they passed a rule that you can't put football players on other scholarships, but I have it from reliable sources (FBI, FeedBag Information) that these guys are all here to build more depth for Cal's basketball team.

I could see him being used as a TE in the same way the Saints use Jimmy Graham. He spends 75% of his time split out wide, but still runs "TE" routes (crossers, posts, red-zone stuff, downfield seam, etc.). Holtzclaw will never be a typical TE that's 265 lbs, but I could see him coming in at 6'7", 235 by his junior year which would make him a bit of a tweener. Guys like that are matchup nightmares. I think our coaches are going for a very multiple look on both sides of the ball, so classifying positions is going to get harder and harder. (ie King- RB or slot WR?, Big WR/small TE, etc.) Players like this are all about getting mismatches on the field. Really like the kind of depth we're building at WR. We're going to be difficult to matchup with for DBs over the next few years.

You mean junior year in college? He's 217 in his junior year of high school.. He will be up to 235 mid-way through his freshman season if I had to guess.

Sure did and man they certainly have size. Hope to see a lot jump balls and back shoulder fades.

He should fit in well at UK.His high school Worthington Kilbourne used to wear the Black and Blue block K on there helmets very similar to the ones wore during the Curry regime.

Yeah that's what I'm saying. He's already at 217, that means in college he could potentially play up in the 240 neighborhood. He won't turn into an inline TE, but he's definitely a combo player.

Not only that but two other recruits still aren't rated. All three are on TOS. It doesn't mean a whole lot this early but a higher ranking should help recruiting a little bit.
