Fun doesn't describe it. Had me worried bad when they tied it up. Awesome win on the road against a perennial power

Haha I didn't have fun today until the game ended. Had my nerves shot. This was a series that was extremely huge and we needed today's game and the boys went out and got it. Proud of them.

Cats take of business vs Georgia and Tennessee andv avoid a sweep at Florida and Lexington will get their first National Seed ever. This team has two things that they must improve on to make a run in the NCAA. Their infield defense is weak and they are thin in their bullpen. I hope Mingione changes their rotation by moving up Thompson to Saturdays and putting Logue in mid-week. This will help them in Tournament play where you need 4 or 5 starters. They have to get 7 innings out of their starters and then hav Salow pitch in multiple games during a tournament. Theirv strength is their deep lineup that offers as many as 11 players to bat in 9 spots.

It will be interesting to see if we make any changes on Saturday. This week should be good for us because we can use Thompson during the weekend either way. However, going forward I'd like to see Smith, Keen, or Hamilton get the midweek starts. Get them some more innings and experience and keep Thompson and Logue available for the weekend.

Might like to see Logue pitch against Indiana and possibly get some confidence against them and then have Keen start against NKU.

We better hope that Pop is ok and is not out for an extended period of time.

I agree with everything else.

Without Pop I don't know what we'll do. We are already short on reliable bullpen arms. Losing him would be very painful. Hopefully he just tweaked something and the 5-6 of rest will get him right again.

Is it possible to do Saturdays pitching by committee? I know it's a bit unorthodox, but if you started Logue for 3 innings or until the first sign of trouble and then let Thompson take over, it has to be better than what has been happening. This assumes someone else starts the midweek game besides Thompson.

Any word on his injury. I missed the pre-game today when they were talking about Pop. I did hear he was going to see a doctor on Monday

I'd rather see us midweek by committee and then use Logue out of the pen. The last two weeks we've looked like an entirely different team on Saturday. I feel as though the team might have a different mindset with Logue on the mound and might be pushing it a bit much. Trying too hard because they feel that they need to score a lot of runs. So, might help us to get a fresh face so they don't feel so pressure and can swing a bit more freely. Of course, this is just speculation on my part.

Don't know cb3, Indiana will not be a pushover. I agree the main focus
needs to be on the sec championship

Indiana is certainly no slouch. They are an NCAA tournament team with a top 25 RPI, and have played the third hardest schedule in the country (UK dropped to 5th). So, they won't be an easy win. However, if we lose Pop I think we kind of have to scramble to get some other guys some experience. I don't know who, but what I fear is the weekend when our starters just don't have it and we have to lean heavily on the bullpen, or even if you have a weekend similar to this past one, but things don't go our way quite as much. On Saturday we had Pop throw 55 and Machamer throw 25. Schanzer had thrown 45 on Friday in a blowout win. On Sunday we turned to Salow and he threw 74. What happens if Salow isn't as sharp and he gives up a couple runs? Who would we have turned to on Sunday? Maybe Machamer can return on Sunday, but in the future we might not have Pop there eating up as many innings and we might have to lean on Machamer more on Saturday. So, he might not be available and then the options are basically Cleary (which none of us is comfortable with), or a guy out of the bullpen who has not thrown over 10 innings all season.

I thought Austin Keen did pretty well in a limited sample size, he could be a help to us down the stretch. But as you said we must get some of these guys more innings in games.
