I remember reading years ago that UK had never landed a kid from South Carolina.

@JPScott , any truth to this?

No UK players from South Carolina, according to Scott's site. One from South Dakota, which surprised me.

I live just outside Spartanburg. When I walk into the gym with my UK gear on, people assume I'm a coach or a scout. I neither confirm or deny.

:grimace:
Just tell them UK personnel are told not to say, and carry a clip board. Youll get free access to any player you want. Then bust out a ball and ask for his autograph.

I seem to recall us getting one during Tubby's time, but I can't recall his name for the life of me.
I know we were recruiting Jermaine O'Neil back in the late Pitino years. He was from Eau Claire HS. And we probably would have landed him if he didn't opt to go strait to the NBA. Although he may not have had much of a choice... I seem to recall he couldn't get a qualifying score.

Zion is the guy who The Clemson coach convinced his AD that ha has a strong shot at getting him, just in case the WD wanted to push Brownell out the door early. Has a Stoops type contract.

Coaches will always figure out a way to keep their job outside of their wins/losses.

South Carolina was usually raided by the ACC. There have been a few from the Palmetto state:
Ray Allen
Kwame Brown
Alex English
Kevin Garnett
Xavier McDaniel
Larry Nance
Jermaine O'Neal
Stanley Roberts
Jayson Williams

UNC had 3 players on their roster from South Carolina last year.

Allen and O'Neal are the two who came closest to coming to UK. Allen chose UConn over UK and O'Neal has said publically he would've signed with Kentucky had he attended college.
