Would you want to see ISU in our bracket?

as i said in another thread they are one of the two picks i have for making the final 4 . They might of lost at Tech but they are a great team.
How can you predict them to make the Final Four without knowing what bracket they are in? What if they are in UK's bracket?
Surely you are not going there.
I think they are a worthy opponent in that range. They can put points up but are defensively challenged, at times.

It doesn't really matter which teams are in UK's bracket. Just have to hope whoever it is doesn't play lights out (kind of like Ole Miss did earlier this month).
As for Iowa State, when they move up and down the floor like UNC did tonight against Syracuse, they look great. Of course, they're also a team that lost to South Carolina and Texas Tech.

ISU is a good team. They are well coached and most of them can abhor the 3 ball and have the green light to do so. They are lacking in big men, so if our post game can get going, we would dunk on them all night.
I don't think they have faced a defense like UK. They would be tough if we played them in Hilton Coliseum.
They lost to TExas Tech, but I think that was a case of taking the opponent too lightly and looking ahead to playing Texas.

Would love to have that bunch of midgets in our bracket. Never met a shot they didn't like and they just about blew the Kansas game by playing stupid down the stretch. Hoiberg has done a pretty good job there overall but he does not even try to control this group - he just lets them play. I don't see them as a difficult matchup for us at all.
If we had to play there, no. Anywhere else and I'm not that worried. Monte Morris is ridiculous though. 6-1 A/TO ratio. That stat they gave the last game was unreal. In 1.5 seasons, he hasn't had two games in a row with 2 or more turnovers.
The first two teams that the Cats play have no chance.Once you reach the Sweet Sixteen in any bracket those teams have a shot to beat you if you don't show up ready to play.

I think Iowa St. is a tough team. I'm not scared of seeing them in our draw, but they wouldn't be my first choice.
Any team that can shoot lights-out from 3 is a concern.

Good team, good coach, good players...overall a program that is on the rise...
However, I think it would be a quick ending to their season if they crossed our path...
I don't think people realize what is coming down the trail...
Cal builds his teams for march...the run we have been on has been impressive no doubt...but I don't know that things have been firing on all pistons...offense is lack luster and inconsistent, post play has left a lot to be desired, Towns and lyles have not fully bloomed yet...
Now imagine a month and a half from now when the younger guys have a full season and sec tourney under their belt...maybe cal makes a tweak or two and gets the offense going as well as the post play...imagine if Towns and Lyles really start hitting their stride...
This squad could run through the tournament and win every game no matter the opponent comfortably at the very least...

For all the people dogging Iowa State's D in this thread, please understand that a big part of their alleged "defensive problem" is due to the fact that they are one of the ever-dwindling number of teams in D1 basketball (I can probably count them on my fingers) that LEGITIMATELY plays up-tempo basketball. The Mayor doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk, and I have a ton of respect for him because of it.
Yeah, they give up some easy baskets, but how relevant would they be, on any level, if Hoiberg played the "turtle hiding in its shell" style that's come to completely dominate the college game? They might have better defensive stats, but would they get the type of players they have, would they win as many games as they have? I think not.
I think the easiest coaching philosophy in the world is to play a low-possession game. Hold the ball, keep the score down, preach defense and rebounding, pray that some of your guys make some shots. It can work, but more often than not, it leads to mediocrity that sucks to watch. I think it's far tougher to do what Hoiberg does, which is give his guys some freedom, let them make plays, take some gambles, and make it all work.

They are 2-2 in road games. They are dangerous at home. I'm just not worried about them on a neutral floor.
We will sweat every game in the tourney of course. Anyone saying different is being dishonest. But, predictability of match-ups is so challenging at this point makes it hard to rationally converse. ISU and any team in the top 20 can give us a game. There will even be some decent 5 seeds. I believe until Ole Miss and A & M kind of made everyone a little less confident that we can always shut down every team.
I hope between now and the tourney we see big improvement with our bigs offensively especially Towns. If he does, can you imagine how great this team could be beyond how they are even performing now?

Iowa State is one dimensional - and that is scoring in transition.

I was prepared to give a good explanation of why the cats would not be worried about a matchup with ISU, but was derailed with a click on Don's link. BREAD........really Don? All clarity went out the window with that click.
