All you kept hearing from Bilas and Schulman was about DOOK's depth as if Kentucky doesn't have a solid bench of contributors. How about Garrison, Krissa, Brea and Almonor coming off the bench? Kentucky's dudes with their experience came out on top over their youth/talent. Definitely wore them down. This is exactly why I want a team of experienced players that fit their system well instead of a bunch of athletes and young players who will jet off to the league in a year. Making Kentucky nothing more than a pit stop as they build their brand. No more! The stench of the Cal Era has worn off with Pope putting his stamp on the Kentucky Basketball program early with a big time win over DOOK.
Think that’s why Pope didn’t use any timeouts late? I was wanting him to take one in those late possessions.

I think they sensed it, yes. Like blood in the water. Loved it.
Duke was out of time outs. It was very reminiscent of the ‘98 game where Tubby hung to his when Coach K burnt thru his. Wasn’t as much time pass as there was in the ‘98 game, but the concept was the same.
I was thinking the same thing, Pope did not want Duke to catch their breath when we had them gassed.
... and that's why Pope is the coach. I think a lot of us, in the moment, wanted UK to call a timeout when that final offensive possession (with a full shot clock) was a bit of a disaster. But Pope trusted his guys and knew Duke was gassed!
