Wins next year

"Shoulda"
-UL - home
-EKU - home
-Charlotte - home

These 3 teams are well less talented than we are.....and we play all 3 at home. Surely, we can't sleep on UL, but we should beat them handily. On a sides note, EKU may be interesting......several former UK players now playing for EKU and, of course, the recent "bar incident."

"Coulda"
-Vandy - away. New OC. They were quite poor last yr and are trying to force a style of play that will take a few more yrs to get up and running.
-MSU - away. Mullen is a really good coach and they've recruited very well....and it's in Starkville. However, they have lost a ton of guys in their 2 deep.
-UL - home. A home rivalry and the teams are fairly evenly matched in talent.
-UT - home. We are trending up......so is UT. (but UT is trending ultra-fast) For 2015, the game still is winnable at home.
-UF - home. New coach. New systems across the board. Changing styles of play. And it's at home. It's fairly early before UF can possibly improve. UF has talent, no doubt, but this game is winnable.
-Missou - home. "If" UK is 3-0 coming into a home game against Missou, the Cats will be hyped.
-USC - away. I honestly am torn between putting this in the "coulda or woulda" category. USC is more talented and has a great coach......and it's away.......but for some reason we tend to play them well.

"Woulda"
-UGA - away. UGA is away.....and will be more talented than us. Their running game is kryptonite for us.
-Auburn - home. The Tigers have recruited extremely well over the past several yrs.

Outlook:
-I don't think there will be a position outside of the DE position that will be improved for 2015......but how much? We will have much needed depth as well......which I feel that lack of depth is what was one of the main driving forces behind our slide towards the end of last yr. We will win a game or two that we aren't expected to. And we will have 1-2 mild blow-outs......not the 63-17 variety, but more like 38-17. Overall I think we get 6-8 regular season wins......and then springboard the season to a top 15-20 recruiting class.

Blueraider, I am with you on the 6-8 wins trending more to 7/8 actually.

All the points that you stated are reasons why, but I will add just 1 factor.

I really think CMS really got the formula he wanted in the coaching. That didn't quite work with CNB. Not down on CNB but it just didn't seem to fit him here. Which is very strange.

I think that CMS will concentrate 90% of his time to ensure next years defense is Top 5 SEC wise. And not just the "hypothetical" top 5, I am talking "land shark" type. IMO, if I am noted as a "defensive" guy and all the "flipping" that has occurred has been mostly defensive players (all except Stumps) this has be be ticking him off!

I just see are defense sky-rocketing next year.

And I think that a bit of that same chip will be with Dawson as well, that everyone has doubted his play-calling ability and such. With the fact the offense is basically the same, the players to come to speed quickly and it should be about execution and play calling.

I believe the ST coach he wants to have experience too. I think this is to have him work independently as well.

I think that we are going to see an very energetic coaching staff and play calling.

I also, think that they get this team to be motivated and rise to the top too. Cause at the end of the day, these guys are also saying to those already there, that they feel they are not worthy either.

Next year should be fun! IMO.

I think Brown fit just fine. And I feel he's a good OC. He just didn't have what he needed yet to run his system. Brown left for the one job that would lure him away. If it wasn't Troy, Brown would still be here. So for sake of continuity, Stoops brought in a guy that runs a very, very, very similar system to Brown. Dawson will get to continue the path that Brown started the team down.

Next years schedule scares me. Maybe no more than 4 wins IMO. We haven't beat Florida in 25 years. I know it sits up nice for us playing early with a new coach, but they have had new coaches before and we still lost. Vandy yes we should win but they gave us everything we wanted in Commonwealth in their down year. Miss State has beat us the last few years and Mullen has them playing well. Missouri.......we haven't beat them yet so why next year? We get them here but it will still be a war. UL..we should have beat them this year but it is a rivalry game and anything can happen. Yes we should be better but I just see two or 3 guaranteed wins. We could win more but at the same time that might be wishful thinking.

I predict we win:

Louisiana
Florida
Missouri
EKU
Vandy
Charlotte
UofL

We could pick up another one in:

USC
Miss St.
UT

That puts us at 6 to 7 wins and a bowl trip.

I would prefer a trip to a mediocre bowl against a name opponent who is having a bit of a down year. The wins over Clemson and Florida State looked real good after the fact. Would love to play a Vtech, Miami or Texas.

Should wins
Lou Laf
EKU
Vandy
Charlotte

Could wins
USCjr early season game, they lose a lot too
Fla the streak has to end!
Mizz it's a home game
UL it's a home game

Probably losses
Ut-
Ga
Miss st
Auburn

All in all six wins is very probable and expected

We will start out 5-0, then win 3 of the next 7 to finish 8-4.

Because I said so.

get it done coach.

From what I saw, UK thoroughly dominated the game especially on defense. I know it was only 17-7, but their 7 was from a pick six. Their offense did absolutely nothing against UK last year. UK's offense didn't show up to play that day and is another one of those head scratchers, but I thought Mark Stoops much like the Ohio game, took over the offense and played to win by just running the ball and taking the air out of the game.

And to the original question I think UK goes 7-5 and gets to a bowl.

7-8 regular season wins is doable, IMHO. Could be better. Could be worse. Time will tell...

La-Lafayette - W
South Carolina - W
Florida - Toss Up
Missouri - W
EKU - W
Auburn - L
Miss St - W
UT - W
UGA - L
Vandy - W
Charlotte - W
UL - W

9 or 10 wins. This program turns the corner next year.

Agree, except would put UT and Mizzou in the woulda category. UT stomped us last season, and theyre only getting better. Same thing with Mizzou.

The offense carries the defense early next year. Breakout year for Towles and the offense.

The doom and gloom from the typical cast of sourpusses on here is funny

we improved from 2 wins to 5 wins. Thinking we won't improve anymore, or get worst says more about you than about the program.

Understood. I had trouble where to put UT and Missou as well. To me they are kinda borderline "Coulda/Woulda."
-Missou is very well coached and the recruiting has been solid through the yrs. They'll be tough. It's at home, so there's a good possibility there.

-UT is another. Sure, they spanked us pretty good last yr, but I think that was more to do with how bad we were at the time rather than how great they were. We were just so warn out from lack of depth that we couldn't show up that well. There is little doubt that UT is recruiting better than we are and that they are skyrocketing right now, but I think we match up pretty decently for one more yr.......especially at home.
