Wiltjer on fire

Sorry I don't have to love a kid who never wanted to and still doesn't want to put in the work to become a better player. There is a reason no NBA scout takes him seriously - He hasn't added any muscle to his body after 4 years in college and he still is a the same exact player. Now that player is a damn good college player but I prefer guys who sweat and bleed in the weight room and film room as much as they do on the court. He is not that. But he is decent kid I guess.

I'm hijacking my own thread. Brian Bosworth is really Bryce Alford's dad.

If he had stayed he would be like Willis on the pine. Cal sells his soul to the mickeyD crowd. Even if it cost a championship.

caneintally, your observations about Wiltjer may be correct. He is essentially the same player now that he was in Lexington, just more mature. BUT, it is possible that he never really wanted to be an NBA player. Not everyone wants to, you know. He can shoot, he has good hands, and he generally makes good decisions. But, he is slow, cannot really defend well, and it is quite possible that more time in the weight room, wouldn't change either of those things, Maybe all he ever wanted to be was a college player.

Let's see if Gonzaga can actually finish out a game and win. They also have the advantage of playing this game at home.

You need to reevaluate your life, Chief! UK is not for everyone. "Seems to be decent kid I guess." Get a grip dude.

You really have no idea how much or little time or how hard Kyle worked. Yeah we don't need a 90% ft shooter a very good 3point shooter. I think Kyle did what was best for him and he really did not fit Cal's system

Talking out of your ass on this one.

We also don't know that Kyle would've gotten nearly enough PT on either the 13-14 or 14-15 team to be where he is now. For starters, he wouldn't be eligible this year. He would've been a Senior last year...and he wouldn't have played at all on that team.

Kinda like Tayshaun Prince. Skinny as hell when he got here and skinny as hell when he left. If he had gained weight and built up some more muscle, he could've had a long and prosperous professional career........oh...wait....

We have 3 guards shooting about 20% and some don't think we could use a shooter? Well OK then.
And yet UK is still winning games by double digits, are 9-1 and ranked #4/5 in the country. Three point shooting is a problem for UK this year, but it isn't UK's most important problem.

Imo, interior defense is the most important problem. UK scores plenty enough points to win games (80 ppg) without shooting the three well, and would win even more comfortably if they didn't give up so many easy points.

UK wouldn't play zone just to hide Wiltjer's major flaws like Gonzaga does. He wouldn't solve UK's most important problem, only make it worse. Also, in order for Wiltjer to play, UK's best rebounder and interior defender (Poy) would have to play less at his most comfortable and natural position.

UK already has a 5 man (Skal) that can't guard to save his life, so, yes, count me as one that doesn't think UK could use a 4 man that's even worse on defense playing next to him. So what if Wiltjer can make 4 threes in a game. If he's giving up 15-20 points and 8-10 offensive rebounds, then the results are not very positive.

Really wish he would have hung around.

So he could get scored on every single time the other team had the ball? I'd rather not. The sec abused him his sophomore year when he was one of the major rotation guys, and his feet haven't gotten any quicker. He might be the worst post defender i have ever seen. His outside shot isn't worth what you'd give up on the other end.

Wrong, if he had stayed at Lexington he would be gone. He would have been a senior last season and done a shit load of pine riding then.

I disagree with just about every single bit of this!

Did he kick your dog one morning? Holy smoke

Like Wisconsin, Gonzaga isn't looking so unbeatable at home this year. Granted they were without Karnowski in both games.

Check the most respectable mock draft site, draftExpress. They have him ranked late 50s or right at #60…while Poythress & Lee are not even projected to get drafted.

So yeah, his move to leave UK has ironically HELPED his draft stock. Went to a team w/ a system that will maximize his offensive talents. Good for him.

He's projected to get drafted right now.

He always does.

Come on, now. Easy on Kyle. He has definitely added some muscle to his frame. I didn't think he would ever become much of a player when he left but I have to give him credit. He has added some weight and muscle to his frame without losing his stroke and accuracy. I know that I would LOVE to have him on this team. I think he could definitely help our team out tremendously if he were still here. I usually agree with alot that you have to say on here but I'll have to disagree here. I think he has done nicely for himself and I'd love to have him still here. I guess everyone disagrees every once and awhile. That's what makes this site the shiznitck!
