Sitting at 835, 165 points shy.
12 regular season games left, guaranteed 1 sec tournament game left and likely at least 1 ncaa game left.

That's guaranteed at least 14 games with the possibility of as many as 21 games remaining. Do you think he gets it?

UPDATE: 856 points, 144 shy. 12 guaranteed games left

with the minimum amount left i don't think so, but maybe if they play another 18 games.

If he keeps it up like he has been the past couple games I can see it happening.

Based on his scoring average this season, he would need 17 games. I think it will end up being very close.

Hopefully he has 997 and drains a 3 at the buzzer to win the NCAA. woooooo

Reaching for the moon there, aren't you? How about he has 998 and stuffs an alley oop for the win at the buzzer?!

But I like where your head's at!

The King of missing bunnies was Jared Prickett. He ended up with 998 career points. Two points shy of the 1000-point club. Ouch.:(

Yeah, that was horrible. I remember the last game, it was painful to realize he came up 1 shot shy. As for Poy, in reality we have 16 games left at a minimum. He has to average just over 10ppg. I say he makes it, barely. I hope he does.

Who was the last Cat to make the 1,000 point club? Darius Miller? Doron Lamb? I can't think of anyone who has stayed/played enough since then.

Miller, Lamb and T. Jones all made it in '12. Darius was well over 1200 points. Dorian barely made it at 1018.

The significance of the 1000 point club isn't what it used to be, but that would still be an accomplishment. You almost have to break all the career leader categories based on number of years at UK these days. I think the single season records are more significant than the career categories now. Alex is currently averaging right at 10 ppg, so it's going to be really close. If he keeps the current average, we would need to play 5 games in the post-season for him to make it.

I really hope he makes it, just because of his up and down and very criticized career.

UPDATE: 856 points, 144 shy. 12 guaranteed games left. Realistically looking at about 15-16 games minimum.

Here's a chart for those who like pictures. ;)

Looking at the trajectory of the chart, I can see why people are hot and cold on Alex. He does seem to turn things up at times and then goes into prolonged slumps.

But his recent trajectory makes it look like he's been pretty consistent of late and should reach 1000 points sometime by the end of the SEC tournament or early NCAA tournament.

Alex is turning it up a notch. This is his last yr. and last chance at a title and he has had a yr to get over the surgery.
Look for Poythress to lock into beast mode from here on out.
Its on!

I hope he gets there, glad he came here he has been a credit to the program. If he had gone to another SEC team he is the kind of player that would have beaten us 3 or 4 times.

If he does Poy will be the first Cat to do so in 4 years when Miller, Lamb and Jones did so in 2012 while helping UK win it all.

It depends on if he can keep up making midrange jumpers and three.

That'll allow him to be much more consistent on offense.

It's hard to be consistent when everyone know what you are going to do, and past three games he's shown more versatility on offense.

1,000 point club for Alex??? I don't know, but I'll bet he's well on his way to the 1,000 foul club.
