This. It's about the money to 99% of these guys, including our current roster.
I'm sure it's similar for people on here with their jobs. Exceptions are trust fund babies working for fun and people that work but live with their parents forever. Those types can work and not care about making the most money.
It's clearly obvious that Wilkerson and Lewis both doesn't have the confidence to play on the biggest & brightest stage in college basketball (KENTUCKY). That's the reason that they both ran away from coming here. Bless their little hearts.
He will play a ton, they spent enough to force him into a centerpiece role.

You have to wonder if this is the non sense that gets peddled to these kids by other schools/programs.
Why would you go there? They have other great players. You'll win there but you won't be the man. Come here. You'll be the key piece, you won't win anything but you'll be the key piece.
One thing Cal had done when he was here.......he got great players to want to play with other great players. Remember Bledsoe/Wall in 2010. Well we got one, why would the other ever come here now.
I don't know much about Wilkerson. I don't really pay a whole lot of attention to this stuff until the players are at UK. I want very good players, but I also want those players to want to be surrounded by other good players. That's how you win titles. Everyone benefits from being around other good players. The team is better and the players benefit as well. It shocks me some players don't realize this.

UK is not in a great spot at the moment with regards to recruit from HS and the portal. We are getting rosters with tons of guys who can play, and guys like Wilkerson are not inclined to join a stacked roster. And apparently we can't, or won't, match offers in the NIL game that other schools will. I don't envy Pope.
If he had chosen us he would be the same player he will be at IN. If he had chosen us , most posters would be praising him as a great piece aand fitss Pope's system to a tee. Sine he did not choose us he is not worth a damn and could never compete in the SEC. Why on earth does this board have to trash kids that choose not to come to Lexington. Every kid is not dying to play for us and UK does not want every kid that is good. The bottom line is, let's stop bashing kids that for zero reason they don't deserves this rude treatment.
I remember thinking that no way Wall would come after we got Bledsoe. And I still think it's hilarious that Bledsoe was not listed on ESPN's top 100 players coming out of HS. A charitable excuse could be they thought he wouldn't get cleared, but I think it's just that they are idiots.
Where did I bash the kid? You’re very dramatic and emotional over this. I’m not basing my opinion on the fact he picked IU, it’s based on what he himself said. Had he said something different, I’d have a different opinion.

Pope’s comments to BBN that they get some guys in and it just does not seem like a good fit seems apropos to Wilkerson’s comments about not wanting to be selfless for the team.
