why do you guys say Barnes cant coach

He has underachieved respective to his talent, but I don't think he's a bad coach.
This board isn't great at gauging good coaches.
I said UT got the exact coach they needed in Barnes and was shredded. They needed a stable, clean, decent recruiter. And that's what they got. He's also a damn good floor coach and has been in the final four.
To answer your question, I've got no idea. They also think coaches like Matta are terrible. There ya go.

What do you mean "you people?" The dude has had killer talent at Texas including a guy named durant and he managed to do zilch with the talent he's had and he has multiple players in the nba he are actually good players. That's why he can't coach. If he had a ring then things might be a little different
I don't even think he's underachieved. Texas has money, but that's it. They're not a baskrtball school, and I think some of that high school talent is overrated. We'll see just how much better Shaka does. I bet not much.

Coach cal went to the elite 8 with Demarcus cousins, john wall, and Eric Bledsoe. I love cal, but cmmon man.

That's right you can't have success in football and basketball any given year. Btw Charlie strong isn't doing that school any favors making them a "football school"

He's a good coach but others knock him for not being a consistent winner (top 5) over the years with the talent.

Ask any other fan base if Cal can coach and they will say no way he can. He gets the number 1 class every year and does not win the title and loses a lot of games during the year. Is bull headed by sticking with something that doesn't work like man to man D on an opponent that needs to play zone against. ie UConn title game. Go anywhere and you will read this.

Ok, maybe he's Mildly underachieved. But 17 out of 18 tournaments at a football school is really good. And for some reason people think Texas Has all these "killer" athletes that are can't miss.

Have you ever looked up the amount and quality of NBA players that went to Texas under Barnes?? Its pretty impressive, and he has 1 final 4 to show for it.
We hear the same thing about Calipari. It took Anthony Davis, a once in a lifetime player blah blah. He had counsins and wall on the same team and couldn't crack the final four blah blah.
It takes luck to make hugely deep runs and it also takes a nice path. Barnes going to 17 tournaments in 18 years while getting to the final four is impressive to me. Cal winning a title with an extremely young roster is impressive to me.
I'm sure there are coaches who could have done better at Texas during that time, but it's not a huge list IMO.
