Why didn't Lee play?

Good question. He played 30 seconds at the end of the first half and had more impact and disruption defensively than the rest of the team. Not sure the reason, unless he was mouthing off or in the dog house during practice.

the 2nd unit came in and played like CRAP and lost an 10 point lead in about 2 minutes.

after that...Cal went into Cal mode regarding substitution patterns.

That hadn't stopped him from continuing to "platoon" before. It's not the first time one team has been lethargic.

He is obviously trimming the rotations. Whether this is the right thing to do or not, remains to be seen. Cal appears to be thinking long term.

Sometimes people, anyone, can over think things. If Coach Calipari cuts the rotation, isn't he reducing one of this teams assets and in a sense coming back to the rest of the pack? I mean, this team is loaded with a lot of good players, why not utilize them. I didn't get to watch the first half, but during the second half I saw UK playing a very mediocre half court game, both on offense and defense. They were not forcing the action or setting the tempo on either end. I would think a team with as many quality players as this one has would force the other team to use as much energy as possible. At least that is what a lot of people were saying at the beginning of the year. However, things do sometimes change. I am just we came away with the win.

Good points, I do not have all the answers unfortunately. Tonight was definitely a different rotation than usual, I don't think it can be argued. The reason's why that is the case? It's all speculation. But it was different, and there were no platoons.

Aaron Harrison played 40 minutes for goodness sake. I believe we will not be platooning at all for the NCAA tournament; some coaches are just comfortable with a smaller rotation. We shall see.

Energy and rebounding. If Marcus allows the opposition to out work him, Cal will use a scoring big man.

I think this team screams for an 8 man rotation in tight games.

There is no drop-off when Ulis or Booker come in and very little drop-off when Dakari comes in; there is, as often as not, a drop when Lee comes in.

I'd still use a full platoon, also playing Hawkins or Willis, in the first half to try to wear teams down but late in the first half and the 2nd half I'd use an 8 man rotation.

I trust that our great coach will make the right decision.

Not playing Lee takes away a huge advantage. Throwing Marcus in the game for stretches wears the other team down while preserving Willie for the home stretch. I know this team has beat some big name teams by big numbers but its not the greatest team of all time. Im o.k. with that because I thought that before the Ole Miss game. Hopefully now people will stop comparing them to 96' and 2012. The pressure that we put on our selves and The team makes it hard to enjoy the ride because the team isnt allowed to lose, because they are supposed to be unbeatable.

Actually incorrect as he said on the Dan Patrick show today he didn't play a couple guys in the second half b/c they didn't have energy in first half and while the Platoon is here to stay in a close game he is going with the who he trusts . IMO , and he didn't say this , that is the twins , Booker , WCS and Dakari . Lyles sometimes as well. Ulis he trusts but last night he was too small and they just were shooting over him he said.

He was one of the players cal talked about that came in with no energy so he didn't play him.
