Who's the shortest "center" (who played meaningful minutes) that we've had ?

I know hayes played center a lot in the nba, but was he ever really a center at Kentucky? Wasn't Eric Daniels the 5, And then maybe Morris after Daniels left? I was really young so my memory is kinda hazy.

Daniels was indeed the 5 and Hayes the 4. Daniels was 6-8, Hayes 6-6. Very good and surprising team in 2004, with a small ball lineup. That damn UAB team clipped us. I remember Tubby let Nolan Richardson into our open practice and scouted us for Mike Anderson basically. Something along those lines.

We won the NIT in 1975-76 season. Bob Fowler at 6'- 4", but could jump out of the gym ended up playing center for us and was pretty good. I was about 13 at the time and it's "been awhile", but I seem to remember he played well in the NIT. Not super gifted offensively but could rebound and was kind of tough. I think both Robey and Phillips were hurt.

Found it on the link below. He was a freshman as well. He only played that year I think, left the program for some reason.

Robey was out most if not all year. Attended all 4 NIT games. Don't remember Phillips being hurt but maybe he was

Robey was injured but Phillips was the center and actually showed that he was very talented.

Hayes did not play the 5 for us, but he constantly battled the opposition's 5 for rebounds and garbage buckets. In my eyes, he was our unofficial 5. I modeled my game after Hayes. Not the most talented, but hustled my a$$ off, lifted weights like a mad man and won the starting 4 spot in high school. At 6' nothing, and 175 pounds of romping, stomping, Kentucky wildcat!

Hagan (6'4") played Center in the first U.K. game I ever saw in person.

U.K. vs. Vandy in Nashville -- January 30, 1954. (I was 7 years old.)
U.K. 85 -- Vandy 63
Frank Ramsey had 24 points.
Cliff Hagan had 22 points.

*Thanks, as always, to Jon Scott for the detailed info.

Kenny walker and Reggie Hanson in modern era. Erik Daniels grew 2 inches while here and he ended up being 6'9"

Both Walker and Hanson was listed as 6'8" doubt Hanson was even 6'7" though. I played pick up ball with Hanson at Memorial and the rest of the cats as well. Walker seemed about an inch or 2 taller but it could have been his physique as he seemed skinnier.

Leroy Edwards was listed at 6'5". Not sure if he was taller than Hagan or not (kinda before my time LOL).

When that happened I remember thinking that was quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Why in the world would Tubby do that and sure enough he told Anderson everything. I didn't like Richardson before that but sure didn't like him or Anderson after that stunt.

Yeah. Craziest shit I've ever heard of. Still can't wrap my head around that one.

I'm awful with older names but I remember my dad telling me about a player we had that was like 6'4 or 6'5 who had to guard Shaq when he was at LSU. Whoever that guy was deserves major props.

Adebayo played alot of minutes at center last season in sort of a small ball lineup. He was quite effective at rebounding and interior defense, he just needed one or two more players to help him down low consistently..

But 6'9/6'10 isn't short at all.
