Whoa, lots of negativity...

Actually the negativity is usually more posters being negative to other posters...really juevenile

Unfortunately, we have a lot of that going on here quite often. Some of the attacks become so immature that I often close, what could be a good thread, right in the middle of all that mess. Just don't care for hearing posters who don't even really know each other just keep attacking in a rather childish manner.

I have gotten frustrated in few games due to effort by couple young players. That being said its november and some of these small schools all ways plays Cals team tuff for a half or so until the young guns realize oh $#!+we better step it up or we are going to get beat. I thought effort in first half was a joke by few of our players yesterday. Its November by March we are going to be great as long as our young players keep learni g and stepping up. Sksl needs to be more assertive if he is not getting position in Low Post. He needs to attack the boards more and make thi gs happen more if tjings are not going well. To much talent for his stat li e yesterday. We will need hom to produce against teams like Vandy' Lsu, Texas A&M,Ohio St, Ucla etc..

Not really. Two or three people started stupid threads. The rest have shown great perspective.

For a message board that routinely features several thousand posters, I'd say we're actually understanding the process more than people from the outside might imagine.

I'll take your word for it. I literally thought you guys had maybe lost from some of the thread titles, and had to double check.

It is HARD to have a young team. Hell, you guys know that better than most:) And when you have a young team that doesn't necessarily have a Davis or a Cousins or a Wall on it, the learning curve is a bit steeper. Add in an opponent who was easy to overlook who was in their biggest game of the year and who had just played another top team close, AND losing your best player and the straw that stirs the drink, and... well, a less-than-ideal game here and there, or a team that is clearly still learning and growing, isn't that terrible of a thing:)

None here. Only negative I take away from this game & the other is FT shooting. Our guards have to make their FT's! Was impressed with Poythress & Matthews.

Be aware Dude that Kentucky and this fan board attracts an enormous herd of trolls and haters. Some post along for months just waiting for the chance to instigate bad feelings here.

It's easy to discount the nonsense after you've been here awhile, but if everything posted here was taken at face value you'd be right to think there are more insane people here than in the state's nut houses combined.
Also note that way too many fans are ONLY concerned about betting lines and their wagers.

Nice post Dude. And of course you're right. But hey, we're UK fans and we want the team to be at championship level every game out. :D

But seriously, I think most of us realize most of what you just said here. It's just hard when you're in the moment, watching your team NOT dominate an opponent, and knowing the effort isn't there or mistakes are being made, to keep from venting a little bit. I have to admit, I have made myself a rule to never post DURING games to avoid a knee jerk reaction to a half or even the first 30 minutes of a game. But I posted at half last night that the first half was one of the ugliest halves of basketball we've seen in quite some time. It was pretty ugly. I think Calipari and the team would ALL agree that it was pretty ugly. But the final analysis of this game, which likely won't be seen until later in the season, is that it was probably a very good thing that Ulis was out because it forced everyone else to step up and play well.

One other thing I would add from a positive standpoint is that the beginning of the second half was very good. UK went from being tied at 31 at the half to being up 56-40 with 12 minutes remaining. That was a 25-9 run in 8 minutes that essentially ended the game. That just shows what this team is capable of when focused.

Negative comments get old no doubt, but the constant complaining about refs is the worst. Follow the game thread, half of it is "we are getting cheated ". We shot over 40 free throws, and we was cheated....smdh

Some of us are impossible to please. Some expect us to win by 30+ night in, night out.

The squeaky wheel is always the loudest. It's the same around here. The whiners and complainers post more often than the rational people.

I think most of us understood why UK played a little sloppy last night. The others are probably miserable to live with or hang around because negativity is usually a personality trait that carries over into every aspect of life.

Reactions: Xception
Although reactions can go overboard both positively when we beat by a wide margin the sisters of the poor, and negatively, when we don't have a great game, I find it O.K. to read each if there are realistic comments. There are posters who never can accept a negative post as they interpret it as a "troll" "a non fan" or just being a traitor to your team and coach. I find it perfectly acceptable to post observations and concerns because that means to me that you are a fan and want the team to do well.

How can you not have some concerns after watching the offense last night? Was this the number one team in the nation? I posted elsewhere that I think more important was our outstanding defense but nevertheless, it was not a good offensive showing. If Skal is to be the number one or two NBA pick it would be nice to see him play like a top 2 college player. I know many love following our former players in the pros who are doing well. But, it would be nice to see that same positive showing while they are here. Skal will be fine, has shown a lot of promise, but also there is no issue for me when posts are made that discuss the problems that can exist as well for him or others.

One thing that may be an unspoken issue is that perhaps last year we peaked way too soon. To me our team looked phenomenal in December last year especially defensively. Teams simply could not score against them. However, I think they started thinking they were invincible and almost lost to Ole Miss and had a few other close calls. To me, last season we started getting somewhat one dimensional offensively as the season ended, and our defense was still great but not what it was earlier in the season. So, this year, I hope we win every game of course, but we may ultimately win a championship if the team is a bit more humble, is working on things to continue to improve, and are not performing a their best in this point of the season.
