I hate to say it, but UNC*** looks as capable as anyone, they look built for that kind of run. Oklahoma, while a great team to watch play, I fear they could have a bad shooting night and a good team having a good night could beat them if the stars align just right in the NCAAT. It always seems everyone has at least one bad shooting night in the tourney.

Right now, I would make them favorites. UNC as my 1a, as most everyone else has it, I suppose.

Kansas, I don't think they can string 6 like that. Maybe Maryland, Xavier or Nova'? Something tells me they're just this years' flavor of east coast writer love and they won't make it 6 games in a row.
It wouldn't surprise me to see Michigan State there in the mix at the end. Maybe Virginia (even though their track record isn't good). Maybe it will be one of those grind it out tournaments where a couple of total Cinderella teams make it to a Final Four that noone thought?

I guess that's just it. Nobody looks like they are that entirely capable of that. But someone will.

Kentucky is the huge wildcard out there this year, in my humble opinion. In the end, I'll keep it simple and stick with UK, as always.

your thoughts on who you suspect could string the 6 together for the 'Ship?

This year is really weird as there is no great teams and there are a lot of teams that could make a run. If it's not us, I hope it's Oklahoma or Xavier. I can see both of these teams making a run. I really like Xavier. Looks like they have it all and I think Mack is a hellava coach. He would be one of my top choices for Cal's replacement. The guy just wins everywhere he goes.

Oklahoma has a bunch of blue collar warriors on that team. I like them to make a serious run. UNC can do it if everyone stays healthy, although they should not be able to play any post season games due to 26+ years of academic fraud.

If the cheaters win another title right before they get slapped with sanctions I will throw up. I will be for Puke, UL or KU if any of them are against them in a title game.

This year more than ever it's gonna come down to the draws. Any of 10-15 teams could do it given the right draw.

I see Xavier losing in sweet sixteen, Oregon beating a team like UNC or KU and UK upsetting some people to make elite 8.. UNC hasn't even played Virginia, Miami,Puke, or ND yet.. We'll see what they've got against good defensive teams and above average gaurds ..

There is NO dominant team(s) this year!!!!
Who will or should string 6 in a row, can't say anyone in-particular.
But some team has to!!!
I think there are probably 20-30 teams capable of it.

It just takes some team getting hot at the right time, add in some luck (good teams in their path losing), and a good 3-5 games.
Just in the SEC you have to look at TAMU & UK as capable. LSU has the superstar player capable of carrying a team (i.e. Syracuse & Carmelo), Vandy has the talent (but they will have to finish strong to simply get in).

A team with a guy that can take over a game and create a shot with the game on the line. Probably an upperclassman.

UNC with Paige.

MSU with Valentine.

OU with Heild.

UK with Ulis or Murray (fingers crossed).

Those are my likely candidates.

If Ulis has to play every minute of every game, then no.

Add Dunn from Providence to that list.

UNC is best built for a six-game run. Very deep and balanced and NOBODY is playing more than 30 minutes a game.

UNC has looked good, but they haven't really played much in the ACC yet. The 2nd half of their schedule is backloaded with better teams/games so I'm interested to see how high everyone is on them by regular season's end.

OU is probably the pick I'd make if you hold a gun to my head. Predicting the champ this year is going to be dang near impossible though. You can pick 3 teams this year and you are probably gonna be wrong...last year if you had 3 teams to pick you probably would have been right as I think most people would have picked UK, Duke and then either Wisconsin or Arizona.

Without seeing the brackets, it is really hard seeing who has the best chance. Matchups are so huge in the tournament. Too many times some really good teams run into a matchup nightmare and their season ends.
UNC is at the top, other than that, several are about even in my view. Who is hot and who they match up with will be the key.
I still think we keep making strides forward, our guards keep working towards being "one", our big guys keep moving and not stand around, Skal keeps getting used around the foul line and maybe start having the guards break for the basket and pass off, Alex keeps that look he had against Kansas, we could be one of those nightmares some of the top teams dread running into.
I cant help think about UConn a few years ago and how they look like us in many ways this year.
They had one really good guard, Walker, one good inside guy, Daniels I think his name was, and other guys who played their part, they got hot at the end, had great matchups along the way and look what it got them.
You never know. Got to believe in our guys.

Also, you need a good coach.

That gives UK, UNC, and MSU an edge, having a Hall of Fame coach and a dominant perimeter player.

Kruger at OU has FF experience (UF in 94), so you might add OU to the list. Heild looks like the best player in college right now. I wouldn't mind seeing them cut down the nets, if it's not us.

I like Providence's coach a lot, but he is unproven.

I like most others in this thread believe UNC has more room for error than most, I also agree Oklahoma and Hields are not going to be easy for anyone and could end up on top of the heap...I also know if we were one of either one of those two teams we would get pitted against the other one in our bracket..but they probably won't due to the fact they are not Ky and Calipari. I am not a betting man but if for some reason I had to, those would be my top two, I love my Cats but our season will end in game just like yesterday probably second round. I would love to see a sophomore Ulis with KAT and WCS and Poythress under the goal but the revolving door situation won't allow it and we all understand why I just would love to see it. Kansas has a very good team Seldon Jr is a handful and so is Perry Ellis but Frank Mason got to see what he might be like when he grows up(watching Tyler Ulis) I believe they won't make it to the Final Four either.

I sure don't want UNC winning a 6th. The corrupt NCAA will never vacate the 3 they should.

Oklahoma has my vote at the moment. The way they came back from a huge deficit against LSU in a short time frame was impressive and fun to watch even though I was pulling for the SEC school at the time. They have a solid coach and can shoot the lights out against just about anyone, seem like a team on a mission this year. But, as others have pointed out there are no real dominant teams out there and I won't be surprised to see almost any team have a shot of winning it all (even UK has as good a chance as any) and for some high seeds to be bounced early.

We will have Michigan State, Maryland, Kansas, And Oklahoma on our side of the bracket and UNC on the other side. Bet on that.

Now what teams can string six wins in a row...?
KENTUCKY can win six in a row for the title!
Let's think of other teams that can win six in a row...
Awwww, who cares about other teams!

K is for Kentucky; that's good enough for me... :D

OU and UNC would be my 2 picks to have best chance at 6 game run.

Anyone of 40 teams could win 6 straight games this spring. This year is going to make 2011 and 2014 look top heavy.

Once Hawkins gets his feet under him from all the time off the court due to his injuries this yr he will be able to spell the guards.
Fortunately we have just enough time for this to happen by March as long as Hawk doesnt have anymore setbacks.
Fingers crossed.

Interesting nobody mentions Iowa. They lost only to decent teams: nd, @dayton, @iowa st and @maryland. None of those are terrible

Blew out Wichita st. Beat Purdue and Michigan st twice each. Only ranked opponent left is Indiana twice.

The funny thing about "stringing six together" is that somebody has to do it. Set up tournament filled with malnourished second graders in wheelchairs and you'll still get a champion at the end. Could be a team getting hot, but could well be a team going through the six games in a wobbly, ugly, up and down fashion.

WSU had two guys out for that game. Iowa is very good. And you have a great name.

If it was possible for nobody to win, this would be the year it happens.

My preseason Final Four picks:

UK
MSU
Iowa St.
Zona

I still like UK, MSU, and ISU, but Zona is looking pretty bad, though they have been missing some key guys.

I like ISU because they are all seasoned veterans. Their coach might keep them from a deep run.

I like Iowa to go deep in the tourney, but their coach holds them back as well. Maryland could do the same, but I don't trust Turgeon.

Just no really great teams out there, so I look at the coaches.

Could be UNC, UK, MSU, and OU. KU might be in that mix, if Selden steps up and played like he is capable of playing. He brought it last night for sure.

Unc,
Oklahoma,
Purdue *best center in college
Maryland,
Kentucky,
Kansas,
LSU *wildcard,
Texas A@m,
Duke* with Amile Jefferson back..
Michigan State

One of those is your champion. UNC , Maryland, Oklahoma are locks for #1 seeds to me right now. They are the 3 complete teams to me.
