Does anybody actually rank these guys? Just wondered where Johnson would rank among available transfers. Is he the best available? Top 5? Top 10? Doesn't seem to be much buzz around him.

Good size, good shooter, double digit scorer against the supposed toughest conference in America, with 2 years of eligibility left.

Hard to imagine that there will be many graduate transfers this off-season better than that. I don't think most of the posters here are hyping him because they think he'll be SEC Player of the Year or even a starter, he just happens to check all of the boxes for the type of player we're in need of. You can have a grounded/realistic view of what he'll probably provide for us (6th-7th man, hopefully reliable scorer we can turn to in certain situations) and still be excited about adding him. It doesn't take a team of Hall of Famers to compete for or win a national title, you need some quality guys that don't mind being in a supporting cast role.

He's not a scrub or a savior.

He is another important piece.

If you think he will be our leading scorer, then you are going to be disappointed, most likely.

If you you think he is just a practice player, you are going to be pleasantly surprised.

He's a rotation guy.

He might start depending on the situation. If he is the only consistent shooter on the roster, then Cal might be forced to keep him on the floor.

Most likely he is the first or second guy off the bench. Hopefully instant offense.

I figure he gives us 7-8ppg. Shoots mostly 3's, probably 4-5 attempts per game.

But he is not going to be the star on this team or anything. Just another piece of the puzzle.

There are some good posts here. I'll tell you what I like about Cam Johnson:

1. I like his size. He's 6-8 210. Has good length.
2. I like his versatility. He can score (11.8pts). He can rebound (4.5reb). He can make plays (2.3ast). Those are his numbers from last season.
3. Even at that size, he's listed as a guard. So, he could play the 2 or the 3. He can handle the ball in the open floor and he can go inside and crash the glass.
4. He can shoot the rock. He shot 41.5% from 3pt range for Pitt, making 78-188 on the season, and that was on a bad team. He also shot 81.1% from the FT line.
5. I love the experience he would bring. If there is one thing we lack next year, it's experience. He would instantly be the most experienced players on the team. He started all 33 games for Pitt this season and played 33.3 minutes per game. And he played in some very tough environments. We just don't have anyone next year who can say that.

Now, I agree with a poster above. He's no savior, but he's a really important piece. We have athletes galore next season. But we don't have a boatload of shooters. And we don't have any experience, unless Bam decides to return. So, he's very important to the team, in my opinion. You could start him day one at the 2 or the 3 and he would produce.

Being a starter in the Acc , Cam Johnson will go to a team where he will be a starter.
