Where will the members of RR migrate to if/when this joint gets shut down?

Probably nowhere. I may consider HOB if it sticks around just to converse with my old friends on there but it will seriously suck if they do change or get rid of this.

Nowhere, I think I'd be done with boards and just get my info the old fashioned way. Hope it doesn't shut down as I do enjoy many of the discussions on this board despite the bickering that has increased lately. I'll miss hearing from many of you.

To me the old fashioned way was waiting for the Courier Journal to hit the porch in the morning.

Id like to think theres good reason to keep this site around, as there's quite a bit of traffic, but I don't know the interior workings of this merger/acquisition. On3 bouth rivals or something? And this forum is basically just a Rivals forum with some dedicated mods, so maybe its something they'd know or can inquire Rivals site developers on.

Reddit isn't a bad option to recreate this, for those unfamilar. We can make a spot for Kentucky fans, keep out any riff raff, create topics, etc. The only thing is, reddit isn't great for keeping topics "going".. I think their preferred way of "forum posting" is that you make a thread/post with a purpose, and ideally that post will eventually be closed out. There are probably ways around that, like keeping the threads open for a while (maybe indefinitely), but don't know how well things like Gyero and the Politics threads will work.

Wait, what? Did I miss something, why would this place end? ***Disregard I see the other thread now.

Like I said in another thread, I have kept up with wildcatnation.net and will just go over there if this shuts down or starts charging a subscription service fee.
There used to be a BigBlueRules.com back in the Tubby/BCG days. Doesn't seem to be around anymore, wish it was, there were good posters over there.

ON3 bought out Rivals, this is a Rivals board.

It will probably end as it is now and will be a subscription service or pay to say (whats on your mind).

I will continue to be where ever it is free.

It doesn't have a ton of traffic like this one, but the 247 football & basketball boards have had some good posters/discussions over the years.

A lot less traffic than here, but if people end up needing a good free discussion board, it could be really good again if a decent number of people transition over there and start posting.

Not saying everyone needs to just up and move...I mean, I've been here since 2003 and on that board since 2002, so I've floated b/t both boards thru the years. However, IF it comes down to people wanting a good, free forum for discussion, it would be a good option.

I was an active member on a message board for a completely different topic/subject years ago. It had lots of traffic. The parent company shut it down at some point.

Like the talk here, the members thought they could just go replicate it somewhere else on a free platform. I told them that it would not sustain itself. The reason? Recruitment of new members. The new place was active for awhile but as the old core of members slowly dropped off due to different interests, circumstances or other reasons, the traffic slowed and slowed and slowed. There was nobody new joining because they didn't just stumble on it like they did when it was part of a larger entity. It took about 2.5 years and it was gone completely.

That's what will happen here if the members go and start up a free board somewhere else.

I have no inside knowledge but I’m guessing this site isn’t going anywhere. The other site has low traffic and low interest. This is the site with the longer tenured posters—-I’d hope they’d be sensible enough to keep this one going.

They won't be.

yeah, that's why I mentioned 247... there are some long time posters there, and the discussion is always pretty even keeled. IF this place becomes pay only message board, there are enough reasonable posters here that it could boost that board without adding a lot of the bickering/drama/trolling that occurs here...

I don't post a ton, but I do enjoy reading a lot of the discussion... some times just takes a lot of time to sift thru the nonsense. So, if it happens that way maybe win-win?

I will NEVER pay to discuss sports. There is no inside information that wont be on X first or eventually find its way to a free pIace. I "pay" enough as it is now with my clicks, ads that follow me around the web, banners, pop-ups, my info being tracked/sold, etc. Sidenote, ON3 is THE WORST as far as being inundated with crap when you visit that site and I very rarely visit since KSR sold it to them.
