Thought he would certainly make an appearance.

All-in-all, incredible event. Unbelievable. If any recruit tonight saw that and doesn't want to attend UK, then that's their problem.

Rondo is one of the last ex-Cats I'd expect to show up.

He might have better things to do being a native of Kentucky and all.
He's good with Cal and great with Tubby.

Rondo has been back to UK a few times since Cal came here. I know he was featured at one of the first Midnight Madness events under Cal. He also played in one of the charity games. He and Cal like each other.

Rondo has actually shown more loyalty under Cal than he did to the program from 2007-2009 when Cal wasn't here - the initial subsequent years when he left UK and went to the NBA.

I loved the way Rondo played defense, when he played here. The young guard De'Aaron Fox favors him to me. I hope we get him,and his defensive game is as good.

Or Wall, or Knight, or MKG, or Darius Miller, or Terrance Jones…..
I'm happy to see who did show up though. Cuz has a tough exterior but he is loyal to UK. And seeing AD sport that shirt with the big UK says a lot.

Dang...missed out on the negative that got turned positive...

In the NBA, the media does present Rondo as being "moody" with coaches and some teammates.

I'm not privy to inside information about his relationship with Cal but...

If you remember, during the '11-12 season (while the NBA was in lockout) Cal let Rondo sit on the bench as a "volunteer" coach. I remember reading where Rondo diplomatically requested to Cal to take notes and offer advice (especially to Teague).

Last I saw he could not stand tubby .[/QUOTE]

Nah, Tubby always checks in with him. And met with him when he was in Dallas. I think Tubby even called him his favorite player.

Cousins knows we saw who he really is and we love him. He knows we are his real true fans. He knows we want to see him succeed.

Like you said he's got a tough exterior, but he's allowed UK fans to "get to know him" of sorts, and he can't get this same situation with NBA fans. That's why he keeps coming back for more. We accepted who he is, as cal did.

Lotsof lies and mistruths being told about Rondo. Stop the piling on people. He played for UK and is a UK great. Louisville would LOVE to call him one of their own. His attitude issues are not YOUR issue, so damn for the love of God, enough. None of you know a damn thing about him anyway.

The statements in regards tubby are a complete lie. They actually speak well of each other. Tubby coached him poorly, but it's over. Rondo has been back to UK many times for many things. He's a misunderstood guy. He's an extreme competitor.

Good god stop the infanticide

Huh???

Are you Bipolar??

I see one post in this thread of someone saying they didn't think Tubby and Rondo got a long.

One. Post.

I would harldy call that "piling on".

Why are you so worked up?

Well reading through the thread I stopped at the title, and the second post. Usually it tends to go in line with the first two.

Honestly reading through, it doesn't seem to be as bad as usual. ill leave it up for the Badhers that would follow.

That's a little misleading. Very few ex-Cats were welcomed back under BCG. Just another fact that has come out since that drunken tool left. I'm really embarrassed to admit liking that hire and even defending him at times on this board. Maybe the biggest coaching failure in the history of elite college basketball. Glad to see Cal is creating the family atmosphere around UK.

Well I suppose you are talking to me about the tubby thing . I have NEVER said anything critical about Rondo in my life . I did think Rondo wasn't on good terms with tubby, but I certainly wouldn't blame Rondo for that .Heck , tubby started Brandon Stockdon over him a couple games .

That's 100% right. Cousins even said the reason he loves UK so much is its the first place where the people and fans accepted and liked who he really was and he could be himself. By far my favorite Cal player. Dude is extremely loyal to us. His court at his home is blue with a big UK on the court.

I must admit, I wasn't talking much about anyone. I was drinking in the moment and saw a rondo thread. I felt the need to save him.

Of course, reading through he didn't get the usual rafters treatment of infanticide so my remarks went in a weird direction. Won't be the first time.

Being an introverted, hyper-competitor who doesn't like dealing with the media is a great way to get a negative portrayal of yourself. Rondo's more-or-less had a full-fledged character assassination of him throughout his career. He represents UK well and am very glad he played here.

I would think you would've had a way less-lame comment after reading the first bi-polar comment you're piggy backing off of. He gave you a decent platform. You must be a huge rondo basher. HAHA LOL!! HERRRRR!!

Or did you just miss the part where this was addressed already? Maybe you made my mistake of responding without studying the thread fully?

Rondo got a fantastic greeting from the UK crowd the other night at the NBA game in Rupp, it was very loud and supportive, fans showed their love for Rondo and I'd say they speak for most UK fans and how they feel about the guy.

great post. it's almost like a family the relationship. he's the fan favorite. here cal introduced THE up and coming star in the nba (ad) who won every award at UK and who no one had a bad word to say about, then he introduced big cuz and said it was his wife's favorite player. i lol'd. he's just a lovable personailty. kids, old ladies, and die hard fans all like him. he's also a beast, which didn't hurt. probably the best offensive rebounder i've ever seen in college, and we've had guys like randle and davis etc. it's ridiculous. he also takes a beating in terms of fouls not called on him, so i even empathized with him when early on he would get upset with officials. he knows that will never stop, and he'll just keep on plugging away...as perineal an all-star.

I don't study any thread fully. I just read you losing your cool for no reason. Big Rondo fan here. As big of a Rondo fan as I am of any player that has played under coach cal.

You always look a fool when you reply to a thread without reading all the replies. I often times want to do the same but I know better. It usually does go the way you say.

From my memory bank, I'm thinking Doherty was a worse hire than BCG. Doherty couldn't instill his beliefs and is probably not thought of very highly in Chapel Hill to this day, despite his success as a player. Reminds me of Joker.

Did UNC make the NCAA Tourney under Doherty? I can't remember.
BCG was only good for one trip I think. Might be the determining factor.

Doherty made the NCAA his first year, then the wheels fell off.

Doherty was part of the family, which makes his reign at UNC worse than outsider BCG.....BCG thought he could change the ways of UK, but that blew up in his face.
