With no inside presence, I would have put Humphries in to, at least, see what he could do around the basket.
Fair enough, but our athletic guys aren't keeping up either.Guys, understand this. If we play against an athletic center, Humphries will not play. He cannot keep up yet. It's that simple. Nothing wrong with this because he is a 17 yr old freshman. Give the kid this season to adjust to the speed of the game.
Humphries can't be much worse than our supposedly athletic guys who guard the other teams athletic guys..Fair enough, but our athletic guys aren't keeping up either.
Stacking bricks would be more appropriate, considering the way our starters shot the ball.I think he was stacking wood as Tai split it. Didn't you see that picture yesterday? That was a two man job.

Chill TF out,, lol.. I'm saying Humphries wouldn't be any worse than Skal at guarding other athletic bigs.. And I died 2 mths ago!!We are 9-2. That is a pretty damn good record considering we lost 90% of our team from a year ago. Our big guys are doing a solid job. Skal is the key going forward. He has been struggling but give the kid a break. He is only 18 and only been playing competitively for a few years. He's probably gone through more life turmoil in the past 5 years than most here on this board and that has to have some affect on how he plays on the court. Everything is moving too fast for the kid but he will be ok. People have to be patient and trust the process. Cal knows what he is doing. He is not going to put Humphries in a game that is going to expose his weaknesses and have his future stock plummet because of it. He's looking out in the best interest of the kid and also the team.

One of my lone criticisms of Cal.I've been in management most of my career and when something isn't working, I try other options at my disposal. You don't know if you don't try.
Good point..this is my biggest complaint with Cal also. One of my lone criticisms of Cal.
The man is stubborn to a fault.

9-2 against a very weak schedule
Duke, ASU & UCLA are the only decent teams
Ohio State was 1 game over 500 before UK. The simple truth is that Skal, Lee & Poy are not producing. Humphries is a little slower on defense, no question. So play a zone. On offense he can get down on the blocks & not get shoved around. He knows how to use his body to get off his shot & to block out. He does not shy away from contact like. Mulder came in against ASU & provided a spark, yet he hasn't played since. Briscoe is struggling to throw it in the ocean. Murray is the only scoring threat. Changes MUST be made or this squad will struggle all season
