Where is the offensive creativity?

Great effort and job by our DEFENSE tonight. The DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR and his unit deserve a LOT OF CREDIT for keeping us in the game. However...

I realize I am just one Kentucky Football Fan… but are there any other UK FOOTBALL FANS out there wondering this question?

For the first two weeks of our football season, we witnessed a Kentucky Offense that thrashes opposing defenses in the first half, then fails to make adjustments after half-time when opposing defensive coordinators stop, throttle, and pit-stop our sets and plays.

In the media we heard the excuses:

“It’s because we got early penalties that put us behind the chains”

“Patrick missed some passes he should have had”

“We missed some blocking assignments”

But after tonight’s pitiful Offensive output by our Wildcats, which generated a menial NINE-POINTS, I’m not listening to these excuses: it’s far too apparent this was not a Florida Defense that “made adjustments”, but a Kentucky Offensive Coordinator who DID NOT.

I’m very disappointed in Shannon Dawson’s game-plan tonight, and I believe Dawson :

a). Lacks a lot of creativity, especially inside the RED ZONE and 2 yard line

-THREE STRAIGHT RUNNING PLAYS “UP THE GUT” inside the 2 yard line??

-VANILLA PLAY CALLING worth 3-and-outs all during the first half and to start the second half?

b). Has a tremendous amount of talent with which to work with, but only utilizes 70% of it.

-WHERE did Patrick Towles RUNNING PLAYS go?

-WHERE did the TIGHT ENDS catching passes go?

-WHAT happened to the FLEA FLICKER, REVERSE, END AROUND?

c). Refuses to make adjustments to counter what his competition throws at him.

-See A and B

d). Need’s to be less rigid in his philosophy and utilize surprise, deception, and counter play calling.

e). Is over-rated.

IMO, you can praise a great job by our UK DEFENSE and DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR tonight, but we are NEVER GOING TO REACH THE POTENTIAL ON OFFENSE, that matches the level of talent we possess, with this ON DEMENSIONAL OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR (Shannon Dawson).

Wake of Shannon Dawson! You've got a LOT of talent you are NOT UTILIZING!

I don't know how much Stoops is in Dawson's ear, but I feel like Dawson makes calls and then Stoops tells him what type of play he wants.

It does not make sense for Dawson, a coach who believes in earnest that adjustments will defeat any defense, to call the games he calls.

If it is Stoops, he needs to let the coach do what the hell he wants. Preserving your defense won't do jack ish if there aren't any points on the board.

Agreed. The offense needs to score points not just keep the defense off the field. Something they aren't doing anyway. Also I think the big thing is that neither Stoops nor Dawson trust Towles. It's clear they are doing everything they can to not throw the ball, ever. There is no way we win 6 games doing that. I'm even losing confidence in beating Vandy if our offense is this bad.

Your probably correct in the TRUST FACTOR because it appears to be a fading option for Towels to RUN or THROW.

time to regroup on offense and find a way to get Towles going. Just call the plays the way you want and have Barker ready if it gets bad. Playing predictable isn't helping anything so just go with it

Color me unimpressed from what I've seen of Dawson. Vanilla is a good description of our offensive schemes.
