When and why did they change the rule that you can pass to yourself?

iowa state player went up to shoot, couldn't , so just dropped the ball and picked it up. No travel?

Those officials were seeing so many things that didn't happen in that game and they blew their whistles (or, in this case, not)

I mean, like, LSD hallucinating, especially on those european step-thru moves the kids make. They kept calling it travelling on the Iowa State guys.

Funny how they had Niang and the Jameel whatshisname in foul problems and then fouled both out before the end....

I think they were thinking the ball got deflected or tipped by the A&M defender (which did NOT happen) and they just let the play .... continue.

The refs in this game need some SERIOUS film watching to see where they screwed up .... multiple times.

Sadly, the emphasis on making calls that already *existed* on the rulebooks, apparently some of the officials didn't apparently get the message ... on a LOT of things.

Ok. Rant/ off ... don't get me started on the damned ref's.

Why don't you go out, register to officiate, and help them out if you can do a much better job. It's an incredibly difficult profession and I do think there are flaws in system. However, it's not the training system that's flawed, it's the system used for picking the top officials. I know officials at the lower D1 level, as well as lower collegiate level (NAIA, DII, DIII) that can officiate circles around some of the guys we see consistently in our games. It's a shame when politics come in to play at such a high level. You don't see this problem in other sports but for some reason, we see it over and over again in college basketball. It's unfortunate because there are some really really good officials out there that do an incredible job night in and night out. Also, a lot of good women officials that deserve a chance at high level men's games too.

But I always tell the guys who constantly complain about the officials that they're more than welcome to come out and put on the stripes. It's like voting, you can't bitch about politics unless you go out and vote. I do officiate and so I can bitch about them as much as I want.

During the UofL game Jamal Murray blocked his own shot. That rule must have changed too.
