....classic denial at it's best.
From the resident village idiot over there... (Zipp):
" [Sidebar: I may celebrate the ineptitude of LPT football. But that comes over many years, involves many teams, and is in direct response to LPT fans who mistakenly see light at the end of a tunnel. Not the same as one December basketball game that's one team's Super Bowl.] And to prove that Super Bowl point, there was a poll posted on the Premium Board here a couple weeks ago asking which game would you rather win--the LPT basketball or football game? Despite recent results, freaking 95% of the respondents chose the football game. Because a December basketball game means very little. Now, post that same poll on an LPT message board to see what LPT respondents say."
...ever think that 95% made that pick because they know they have NO CHANCE at winning the game on the hardwood??
This is what they've become in going 1-7 against UK since Cal's arrival. If the game between the 2 schools "matters" on the football field, it certainly "matters" on the court as well. They're each others' biggest rival.
The denial of the importance of the basketball game is pure comedy. Nothing would be better than seeing how that denial "vanishes" if Stoops & Co. hand them a loss at CWS. All of a sudden, the basketball game would "matter" again...
