Not sure if you want an answer or this was meant to be rhetorical. But I’ll answer your question. (1) The portal gives this illusion of equal footing free agency for upgrading the roster. In reality NCAA does no enforcement for tampering so teams have been working behind the scenes for months. I’d wager UCLA worked for awhile on Dent, and Tenn has been working for awhile on Gillespie. So while it isn’t a “recruiting loss” if the dude has already decided his destination before entering the portal and is just using it to get a higher paycheck from the school he has was always going to attend it feels like a “loss” to our fanbase because our perception is every school has an equal chance to recruit these guys and UK hasn’t landed anyone big yet. (2) Matt Jones put out a Tweet awhile ago that a journalist told him we had a major “silent commitment.” That now appears to have been false and it was irresponsible and inappropriate for him to float that rumor because it created an expectation in the fanbase that we would quickly have major positive portal news. Combination of those two things have people agitated.

But it only takes about ten homeless bums and maybe two paranoid schizophrenics accosting people on the streets to give the whole neighborhood an edge of danger and depravity.

So, on this board there are about twenty dedicated Kentucky haters, some with two or even more "user names" who for whatever psychotic reason are willing to spend massive amounts of their time pretending that all is wrong with the world of Kentucky basketball, disparaging the coach and the players and so on. And they aren't even well hidden -- just ask yourself if you saw any of these people celebrating the win over Illinois, or the SEC win over Oklahoma or several gutty top-15 wins.

It's easy to see what is wrong with this board. But just like the laws and police apathy make it tough to just sweep the streets of my work neighborhood and haul off the psychos, it's hard to get the bacterial parasites off this board.

No offense but a lot of this board is older so you get that portion of the fanbase that thinks if I guy chooses to stay at SDSU it’s some huge implication on UK. When in reality it seems the guy just was comfortable where he was, never wanted to really be in the portal in the first place, and get a little NIL bump even if it’s less than what he could have had here. Yep. I’m not personally worried about Oweh staying in the draft as opposed to testing the waters. But anything can happen and it’s an unadorned fact that we haven’t replaced a single starter. OP would never consider it but in truth he’s being a lot more emotional about this issue than many of the people he’s decrying, most of whom are only stating the obvious. He also seems to be ignorant of the April 7th date, which is acting like an artificial deadline by forcing most players and schools to try to get their deals done ahead of it, whether or not anything will actually change on that actual date, which seems unlikely. That doesn’t seem too surprising, he doesn’t post very much these days.

Allegedly his dad is an Uber Eats driver back in TX so a couple hundred thousand extra in NIL meant A LOT to his family. It’s also true he was a zero star recruit last year and SDSU took a big risk on him and I think he wants to be loyal. So I definitely believe he felt serious family pressure to enter and I also think he never wanted to leave. As you pointed out NONE of that is UK’s fault.
