Anybody have any recent information about whether Hump will be back next season?

If it's been posted in the last couple of days . . . I apologize. Been busy.

It's Gonzaga or Australia.

From what I gather don't expect Humphries at UK next season. His 3rd cousin's best friend's son's mechanic's janitor's pimp said so. So...take it to the bank! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If we want to win a title we have to keep some guys around and develop them. He almost won us a trip to the final four this year so now we are ready to kick him to the curb for some HS kid who may or may not be better. Everyone doesn't need to be a lottery pick or leave early. This team would have been bad if not for Willis and Hawkins. Hawkins stepped up for us when our AA wilted in the tournament bright lights. I hope Humphries stays. We need him and he will get a lot better if Cal will play him.

Is this a joke? I will just say that I disagree.

Other than a potential Bamba, of course Hump is the best 5 on the roster. Who else could it be? Richards? He's the least ready to contribute 5 star center Cal has signed. He'll probably be what SKJ was this year. He is better than SKJ defensively by a lot but not nearly as polished offensively as he is. Speaking of SKJ, he's better suited for the 4 spot. I would argue Tai Wynyard is the 2nd best 5 on the roster. No facts here, just my opinion.

I think the question is whether or not he's transferring. I hope he stays - he'll be our veteran next year as a junior.
He ain't doing that . The question is whether he wants to go pro . He most likely wont be drafted at this point but eventually he would make a team IMO. He will be back though and the next year all 3 of our centers will be drafted. Bamba in the top 3, Richards in the top 15 and Hump is the early 2nd .

Back to Australia. They have a pro league.
Ive said this in previous post. I have a hunch he is headed home to Australia to play professionally. Cal was referring to Hump when he mentioned a kid being afraid to lose minutes to a freshmen but not a grown man in the pro ranks.

Hump is the one talking about leaving, not the coaches. And if you think he is as good as Bamba then ....

UK - where every player thinks they are a 1 or 2 and done. What the hell is a Junior or Senior? Willis and Hawkins didn't get the memo.

Bamba likes coach Cal. Cal sell's the position-less position. Bamba wants to play power forward. He must realize at times he must go to the defensive boards to rebound or protect the hoop. Having Richards in the fold will be big in Bomba's decision! That should help us.

It's been known that Bamba wants to play the 4 so I don't think his decision matters. Bam would probably want to play the 4 as well IF he came back so Hump is in good shape for PT next year IMO.

This is the kind of thing we get by having so many good recruits. Any player who has been around 1 or 2 years is immediately looking behind them at what Cal has coming in.

I'm sorry, but UK has 3 front court players, possibly Gabriel (and even SKJ) returning. A guy like Humphries could be making an easy 6 figures playing basketball so it makes sense he doesn't want to risk only playing 10 MPG or so at Kentucky.

If Karnowski is not in either round this year, no way Hump gets drafted.

After the Skal fiasco I decided not to count my chickens before they hatch. The same may turn out for Gabriel and SKG. Bamba may be the next Patrick Ewing, or not. Humphries is a decent post player to be so young and to be in Cal's "make one mistake and you get jerked program".

Richards Top 15? Hope this turns out better than your WG draft projection...

question
was there ANYTHING else but that one article just before the tourney - where the journalist asked the question - that indicates him talking about leaving?

I honestly don't trust what these people write - quotes taken out of context, or only partial statements happen all the time.
He sure didn't seem unhappy our last game - and played like a beast. Seems to me he showed what he could do.

Of course, could be wrong

And in production.

You must've missed where the NBA prioritizes production. They don't. Skal, for instance, was a lottery pick and is already averaging more in the NBA than he did at UK. NBA teams have egos and if they see something in a guy who isn't even 20, they believe they can turn him into what they want. A guy like Karnowski...he is what he is right now. He might change his body and gain some experience, but to say he's really got any potential to be anything but a big body off the bench would be kind.
