With the six early commitments now signed, there are only two players from the 2020 class with UK scholarship offers — Greg Brown and Cliff Omoruyi — and the Herald-Leader was told this week that the Wildcats are, as of now, not targeting anyone else from that group....

JONATHAN KUMINGA
Technically, Kuminga is in the 2021 recruiting class — he’s the No. 1 overall player in that group, in fact — but recruiting insiders are skeptical that he will stay in that class beyond this season. If the Congo native does indeed jump to 2020 and gain eligibility to play college basketball next season, he’ll become the hottest recruiting target in the country.

So, in their words, our last 3 options. I'm sure by spring, there may be another candidate for reclassification. Do we end up with any of the 3 mentioned above for 2020? Depending on who leaves the team this year, will we go into 2020 with more or less than the 10 scholarships we have this year?

Out of that group you’re really only counting on Kuminga making an immediate impact. Brown maybe if Nick and/or EJ don’t return. Omoruyi is way to raw to count on for the kind of impact we would need.

If we don’t get Kuminga, Bamchero, or Brown I suspect we go to the transfer portal again.

Get a reclass and commitment from this kid and nothing else matters:

Dear Lord...the season just started and folks are worried about next years class and hemming and hawing about whos gonna be gone and who isnt. And people wonder why fand are fatigued...
The casual hardcore UK fan doesn’t really follow the finer details the way we all do on here. We’re the 5%’rs, we live for this $hit! Fatigue? What’s that?!? Lol :fistbump:

What’s next? Well, UK has a super good class signed, and it will be interesting to see how this current crop progresses. Cal obviously believes he’s replacing SEVERAL guys. If not, we’re talking 2015 again.

If that were to materialize, I’m not sure he has the room for the aforementioned studs.

If we land even one of those three you are talking one of the greatest classes ever.

Land 2 of the 3 and it WILL be the greatest!!

Land all 3 and just cancel the season!!!

Bwah ha ha ha ha!!!!!

Get two and cancel the season, I think...

I’m fine with Kuminga, Banchero, or Brown.

Need an offensive minded, skilled big man.

Not high on Omoruyi. Plus we have Jackson who does most of the same things except better.

Check the pro sports boards. They do the same things regarding drafts, free agency, trades, etc.

It's part of being a fan. Recruiting is actually one of the funnest parts.

Because recruiting is fun under Cal and it always gives us Wildcats fans hope. It's been a fun ride.

Zero chance Nick is back . The light is on for him. He will be a damn good pro . EJ might be back but IMO he either is good enough to go pro or will transfer but that is total speculation based on how recruits act when they are top 15 players who don't make it in 2 years to the NBA .

I think Banchero will for sure be on next year's team. Kuminga I think will go somewhere other then UK or Duke . Brown has always seemed like a long shot but people have been saying he is much more likely to UK then most of us think so who knows with him. We will add 2 more bigs but the 2nd is a total mystery to me .

This is college, not pro sports. You want to treat it like pro sports, thats fine. Everyone can take the "its early in the season, Evansville is OK to lose to" b.s. on somewhere else. They going to get paid, then I dont want to hear any crying when we point out how crappy someone plays on a given night.

No one said is okay to lose to Evansville...

Correct. And we wonder why Rupp is only half full in November and December? We are constantly being told November/December doesn't matter. I don't want UK to become like what the rest of college basketball has become (i.e. a one month sport in March). We are the winningest school in history so every game counts, even the Evansville's. I'm not saying the season is over or we're doomed but let's not pretend like this wasn't a big deal. We have been the laughingstock of college basketball the last week and rightfully so.

"Its early in the season, no need to get mad, etc"

We've digressed from my original point. Obviously whenever someone signs its news and discussion worthy. Discussing what our roster will be next year, two weeks into this season....its too much. Folks are tired of it. Thats all. Moving on.

To be fair we are bringing in the best class we've had in a long time and I don't think it's hype this time

Nice 2020 class. Kentucky needs more bigs. Cal hasn’t changed his stripes, and he cannot control the paint with wing players.

I thought that is what message boards where for, discussions ? No ? If you want to keep recycling how shitty we played against Evansville, UVS, or how bad Whitney shoots free throws, have at it. But some fans like to discuss some positive things after the melt down, not keep dwelling on a terrible loss or bad things about the team. You can be miserable if you want, but do not tell other people how to message board.

I would like to point out what a crappy post this is.

So you are feeling a little butt hurt? Maybe a little hemorrhoid medicine would help.

I'm just saying that discussing the future is exciting for many fans. This is true in college, where fans follow recruiting, and in the pros, where fans follow the draft/free agency.

Being a fan encompasses many different outlooks. One of those outlooks is the future. If you don't want to discuss next season, you have every right to abstain from such discussions. I have no problem with such a position.

My take is an overall indictment of the proliferation of such threads than this particular one.

Funny thing about Rupp Arena, the fan noise was about the same as if it were 3/4 full

Its completely valid. They don't get to have their cake and eat it to. If you dont get that, well, I dont know what to tell you.

get their cake and eat it to ? WTF does that have to do with discussion recruitment ? It is really simple, if you do not chose to discuss recruitment, simply do not post in threads about future players. Simple really. But to tell someone how they should feel about the current situation is a bit egotistic. I chose not to keep dwelling on things i can not change. It is 4 games into the season, give the players a chance. or keep being miserable, your choice, not going to tell you what to do, but,,,,, You do you. Just stay out of discussions that you do not want to be part of. Nobody really GAF what you think we should do and act. Run along and find some other (there are many) miserable, the sky is falling, negative posters and hang out and talk about all the bad times.
