Late in the 4th quarter, 2:33, left to be precise the score is tied 38-38. JoJo had to be helped off the field due to how exhausted and beat he was. South Carolina has the ball on their 20 and it’s 2nd and 10. QB drops back, throws it, AND ITS TIPPED AT THE LINE! THE BALL IS IN THE AIR AND DEFNESIVE ICON BUD DUPREE SNAGS THE BALL OUT OF THE AIR AND RUNS IT IN FOR THR GAME WINNING TD!

UK wins! 45-38! This is the turning point in UK football history. If anyone ever asks, “when did you know?” That was the night. JoJo kemp is asked by ESPN his thoughts… his words, “why not Kentucky? Why not us”

I've been in many arguments with other UK fans on that same point. I still believe that game was the biggest game in the Stoops era. People can argue other games all they want but that was when the turn around began.

And the great Steve Spurrier couldn't help himself to just run the ball down UK's throat...but he insisted on throwing ilt around the lot...and UK got a tip/Int and the rest is history.

We actually got him first in 2010 under Joker of all people, the game where Hartline threw 4 TD passes on a career night.

The arrogance of Spurrier did them in that night. We had not shown any ability to stop the run all night and I think we were down two scores at two different points in the game. Midway thru the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th they started passing on it seemed like every down we were able to come back and win.

For all the praise Spurrier gets that was one of the all time worst coaching jobs I've ever witnessed because it wasn't just one bad call like the Nebraska onside kick this year, but a series of bad calls. And that completely changed the trajectory of that series because other than one loss and a couple of mediocre games where we almost let it get away, we have completely dominated and bullied that program.

Oddly, then, just 12 months later, we got our first SEC road game win in Columbia, SC.

Spurrier was a thorn in our side, then our punching bag. He resigned mid-season, after the 2015 loss at home, losing any respect I might have ever had for him.
