I think there is more basketball talent in the SEC this year, since we get everybody's best shot it will be tougher than usual this year. On the flip side SEC teams will beat each other up more than usual as well. a team could win the league outright with 5 lossesNo idea what the OP means by "survive" SEC play but I don't think people really understand just how awful SEC basketball is going to be this season. With all the talk of new players and coaches you would think it is improving. In reality it does not appear to be any better than the last few years and maybe not as good. UK is playing well enough to easily win the SEC without improving at all.
I disagree overall the SEC is better than in the past and face it no matter how bad the SEC is when UK come into their gym to play it is the super bowl and they will throw everything they have at the CATS. If UK needs to improve anything it is rebounding, you cannot play good defense on the first shot only to give the opponent 2nd and 3rd attempts because we can't rebound. No idea what the OP means by "survive" SEC play but I don't think people really understand just how awful SEC basketball is going to be this season. You beat me to the punch. Yes the SEC is still bad but that only explains the terrible coaching. The athletes are there but coaches like Johnny Jones are killing the SEC's perception. But the bottom line is these teams play like crap until UK comes to town. Then all the sudden they play out of their minds. It happened to Michigan State last night. Iowa isn't going to play like that until someone else that is highly ranked comes to town.I disagree overall the SEC is better than in the past and face it no matter how bad the SEC is when UK come into their gym to play it is the super bowl and they will throw everything they have at the CATS. Losses to Dayton and Purdue are not bad losses, I don't understand why you have them listed like those are bad teams. Purdue is a FF contender and Dayton has a great coach. I think those 2 losses are nowhere near as bad as our 2 losses. You may be right. However, if you look at the records of the current projected top teams I think you will find definite weaknesses. Texas A&M is 9-2 but they have a loss to Syracuse on their home court and a loss to Arizona State. They have also not played great in some of their wins. Vanderbilt is 7-4 with a loss to Dayton at home and a fairly bad loss to Purdue on the road. In my opinion you could pull the best players from the rest of the SEC and you still would not crack the top 3 in the league.
Nope. Time to wake up from fairy tale land. I know you like to color everything blue but when you get pounded by a bad Ohio State team on a neutral court you can lose to anyone. I don't know if you realize this or not but UK will be playing half of its conference games on the road. That's not a good thing with this team. I don't see this team getting out of the SEC with less than 5 losses, 7 total. This is a very avg SEC this season and that is saying something.
I'm not saying UK will go 16-0 again but 14-2, 13-3? Yeah....
WTF are you talking about? The SEC embarrasses itself every year in the NCAAT and in the pre conference. LSU embarrassed the league again last night. I don't know what you are watching but right now it's Kentucky and that's it. Florida was good for a couple of years but nobody else is doing squat. Arkansas crapped the bed last year. Vandy was supposed to be good in 2012 but they stunk it up in the NCAAT with a really good senior laden team. Florida was the team to beat in 2014 but failed to win it then did nothing last year. Here we go beating up on SEC again...you guys do it every year...then giess what...the Sec makes a pretty reasonable showing in the tourney. I think there is a team from that conference that goes to final 4 about 80 percent of the time. In fact i know one of you stat gurus could look this up....what is SEC record in head to head with ACC so far this season??
Tennessee beat Tennessee State at home last night 74-68 so GTFOH with that. Vandy already has 4 losses, South Carolina is undefeated but have you looked at their schedule? Ole Miss is the same as they are every year, do you seriously think they are good enough to even get to a sweet 16? There is one squad that is actually capable of doing serious damage in the NCAAT and that is UK.South carolina is undefeated...Vandy is good i mean real good when healthy...Tennessee is decent...not every team is UK...that doesnt mean they arent good...ole miss and texas a&m good as well....all conferences have lower tier teams....i mean all of them
