What is up with Dakari?

He's playing too much with the ball. He simply can't do that with his athletic limitations.

Defensively he's the same. Thats never been his strong suit.

Neither he or Lee are doing much. Dakari just can't handle bigs on the inside lately. Lee is not playing with the same fire for some reason. Perplexing.

He's really struggling. All our bigs are offensively. It is just hard to play him we he's not scoring.

DJ, man-- get fired up and hurt somebody on the way to the monster slam!

Doesn't jump well. Has a hard time getting his shot off and officials have let them play inside lately. He was getting to the line a lot early on and teams couldn't get as aggressive when defending him. Now refs letting them play and they are challenging him every shot.

The bigs are constantly fighting a double team. Andrew has to start penetrating the lane and either finish, dump it off to one of the big guys, or find Booker. Passing the ball around the perimeter and feeding the post isn't working because the defense is collapsing.

Seems like none of our bigs are really skilled offensively. KAT has the most potential, but still very inconsistent.

Think one problem could be he has gotten too light and it is effecting his ability to muscle more down low.

Dakari doesn't get off the floor which is why his shots are swatted so often. If he would utilize the shot fake a time or two it would open up his game and limit those blocks. Also, he gets himself in trouble when he puts the ball on the floor.

All he has to do is slow down ... Gather himself & a simple head fake. He will score or get fouled. To be honest Kenny Payne has done a horrible job with our bigs. None have improved

lol at the comment above..

Actually all the bigs are making same mistake...they are all acting like they are going against 7' long armed players. Most of them just need to catch and shoot.

Why are they making the same move every time, it's giving weak side blocker to come in and block.

WCS, Towns, Dakari just need to go and sometimes add some pump fake and spin.

Reminds me of Rob Locke but Locke was a tad more athletic.
Locke never lived up to his billing and never did much till his senior year and he looked serviceable.

I agree that our bigs are not getting the training they need. Didn't know that Payne was the coach who was responsible.

He is infuriating to watch. To be that big he plays like a female body part and I don't mean a tit. I've NEVER seen a 7 footer get blocked as much as he does. He's been getting blocked all year but the difference is he got foul calls up until a few weeks ago and now that he isn't getting to the line to score. He's become a liability.

To be honest, ALL the bigs are struggling offensively and defensively in the last 2 games. Look how we are being outscored in the paint. Sometimes I think Cal's loyalty to certain players hurts the team at times. Booker should probably be starting as our most consistent shooter. Cal has to juggle in order to keep all the players happy, especially the upper classmen. Overall though we can't complain about his success-Cal usually gets it done=80 +% winning while at U.K. Go Cal and Go Cats!!!

Dakari has ZERO athletic ability. He's just 7 Feet tall. He lacks coordination and he can't elevate in the post. If you watch him dunk, he can barely get off the ground. Unless he can seal or get an angle on someone he won't be able to score. I would play behind Dakari and make him catch the ball, make a move and finish over the top. He struggles.

All UK post players struggle in the post which is why they have stretches where the offense looks ragged. You can't throw the ball into any of them them and they make a move and get a basket except for maybe Towns and he doesn't play strong in the paint.

WCS can't score unless it's a lob or a dunk off penetration.

Lyles is still more of a jump shooter than anything.

Dakari doesn't have the athletic ability to score consistently over players 6'9

and Karl mentally just isn't there yet to dominate in the post.

Dakari will be fine. Along with everyone else. These kids just have to bring it every time. No matter what name is on the jersey.

We have all seen how good we can play when the big lights are on.

Relax everyone.
