I've got 3 things.

1. A couple years ago a UL fan said that sure Calipari puts a lot of players in the NBA, but they don't do nothing when they get there. Someone please introduce this moron to Derrick Rose NBA All-Star, John Wall NBA All-Star, Anthony Davis NBA All-Star, and DeMarcus Cousins NBA All-Star.

2. When Tubby Smith was in either his 1st or 2nd year at UK., Some of his supporters would say, I can't wait for Tubby to get a roster full of his own recruits. Then we will see some real basketball... How did that turn out?

3. The day Tubby left UK for Minnesota, that night on the WHAS sports call-in show, a Tubby supporter called in & said that Tubby & Minnesota would be in the Final Four before Kentucky would. Since then Tubby has a grand total of 1 NCAA Tournament win. As we all know UK has been in 4 of the last 5 Final Fours.

The article Thayer Evans wrote when we beat Mississippi State in the Anthony Davis year has to be up there.

Close second: Forde's "You made your bed, now sleep in it" rant w/r/t Cal.

The worst thing ever said in hindsight was that 'running off' Tubby Smith would set Kentucky back a decade - whatever that comment was.

Come to think of it, you weren't a Kentucky fan if you weren't a Tubby supporter in dumb scenario number 2. Kinda went hand-in-hand ya know.

Closely related to that was the comment Bill Plaschke made on Around the Horn that Tubby left because he suddenly turned around during a game and saw all the white faces looking down at him.

Basically though it's best to not get too caught up in media insanity because a lot of things are said to simply get a reaction. The less reaction the better you feel and the less of that stuff there is.

Billy Donavon and the horse farm nonsense is up there.
Pitino's Chris Jones being unguardable and Marra being the best shooter ever.( My bad, OP said UK related, wasn't paying attention).

Kentucky fans cheering for Louisville in the 2013 tourney because they were a "KY Team" that of course includes UK's biggest celebrity fan, who pulled for them as well.

Some idiot UL fan at work last night trying to tell me that they've been to as many final fours as UK since Cal has been here.

i didn't know anyone did that. that's repulsive.

"if kentucky gets rid of tubby it will set the program back at least 10 years."------Rick Pitino

I vote: Kentucky could beat nba teams

On the same line of last year.....that Kansas would be able to beat Kentucky last year before we humiliated them my 32 points and they gave up because Columbia played us more competitively the game before.

Denny Crum saying that Ricky Gallon was better than Robey and Philips and that U OF L was the university of Kentucky. He said that because Kentucky would not schedule UL and it was eating him up.

The Dick Vitale rant when Tubby left UK for Minn. How BBN ran him off, we should be ashamed, Tubby's a great coach, blah blah blah. Well Dick, how did UK do after he left? Yeah we had to suffer through BCG, but life's been pretty darn good since. Tubby's on his 2nd job now since he left UK.

This latest thing about how Coach K "adapted" to the OAD era of college basketball. Yet Cal and UK is "ruining" the game. Give me freakin' break. Such a double standard, it makes me sick.

If Cal ever leaves us, gasp, we will never see anything like this again.

All the arrogant, high-minded idiots labeling BBN racists for wanting to get rid of TLT

That might be true.

We certainly won't get a coach who understands that (most) fans want UK basketball to go beyond the games. Cal's media stuff is kind of taken for granted, but you can go back seven or eight years to the Tubby era and see how many of us were starved for it.

Since the Rupp glory years of the '50s, Pitino's run in the '90s and this run now are really the apex. There've been spurts otherwise--Hall's title, Tubby's title--but very little sustained.

That's a really short time period over the swath of more than half a century. Rarefied air.

I certainly won't fall apart when Cal leaves and will move on to looking forward to what the next coach can do, but we're in a truly unique time when you think about the wide swath of this program.

The other night I was at a local watering hole enjoying the cool night air, some music, and a fire when this moron walked up to me, noticed my UK hat, and started talking to me about our loss to Wisconsin. After a brief period of chat on the subject he said something to the effect of, "Well you know Calipari is going to the NBA, right?" I kind of laughed at it thinking that he was just trying to make this speculation, but he insisted that it was a done deal. Seeing as how I hadn't checked any UK websites all day I started to freak out a bit thinking I had missed some news. Then I believe he said that the Cavs hired him two weeks ago. It was then I realized that the guy was just a moron who had no idea what he was talking about.

Along the same lines... every Tennessee fan that wants to talk about basketball will inevitably make a remark about all of our wins being vacated because of Calipari. It's pretty hilarious now though.

I've got 3...

1. Had a UofL fan tell me once that the only time UK was ever good at basketball was the 7 years Pitino was there.

2. Back in 2011 when we made that run to the Final Four and Louisville lost in the 1st round to Morehead State, a Cardinal fan told me our run to the FF was meaningless because we didn't win the title. He said it was actually better to lose in the earlier rounds because they knew then that they weren't good enough to win the whole thing and it just took Kentucky longer to realize that they weren't good enough to win it.

3. Hoosier fan I worked with told me 2 days before the Sweet 16 game in 2012 that IU would easily beat Kentucky because they have something UK doesn't and his name is Cody Zeller.

After UK won the championship in 2012, a uavel fan at work who I had numerous arguments with said, "your title is meaningless because you didn't beat anybody good this year."

I said "we beat your team...twice."

His response, "that doesn't count."

"ok, well what about IU, Kansas x2, florida x3, vandy x2."

His reponse, "that's different, I'm not talking about the teams you had to play."

????

Forde, when we hired Cal, with his "This will be an April Fools Day joke for UK, Barnhart" column

vs.

Forde, when IU hired Crean, with his "This is an absolute home run hire" comments....

Don't argue with him. Surely on some level he knows the likelihood of 4 final fours in 6 years happening again after Cal leaves isn't great. But he can't allow himself to say it....

Not for nothing, but Tubby's first team entirely comprised of his own recruits was 2002-03 ... maybe my favorite UK team of all time.

But I get your point.

Gregg Doyell saying that Billy Clyde Gillispie was going to win so much at UK that Pitino would have to start taking his mail in Missouri. I'm not even sure what that means.

Judging Karl Towns work ethic by his "lazy walk." And then, still trying to defend the comment mid season. I'm sad the board switch killed my signature :(

I agree, it is a double standard. And as the other poster mentioned, the article about Anthony Davis from the Chicago paper. A grossly obscene article. I've been around the block a few times, I'm not going to be swayed by some out of the blue hack piece like that and I would hope others would take the same route. But of course the UK haters would cling to anything.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about Kentucky's team this year. All of these guys were committed to a common goal and put their individual desires aside for that, they shared the ball, they played extraordinary defense, they were enjoyable to watch and they represented their school exceptionally well. What's not to like about that even if you're not a Kentucky fan?

So many are just full of BBE I guess.

Not as dumb as amusing but the thread started by the guy who ran into Ramel Bradley at the Mall and said he gave Bradley advice and tips on how to be a better PG complete with one on one demonstrations. The posters on here gave him hell for a month and It "spawned" a whole series of "I ran into____at the mall yesterday" threads.
There was also a poster on here who could do a Tubby interview perfect...ie " Bobby Purry...sniff sniff...needs to play tough...snort spit....ball line defense...sniff..
The Jamal Crawford episode where everybody on the team had the name Jamal

Loved that group. I don't care what anyone says, things would've been a lot different if Bogans had been 100% in that EE game. D-Wade may've still got his... but a healthy Bogans, playing Bogans-defense, would mean some of those other guys wouldn't have scored as much. That twist (pun intended) of fate, along with 2005's EE (if the ref would've followed through on his foul call on Spark's 3-pointer) would've changed Tubby's can't-get-it-done image.
