What if we played bad in the first half

And good in the 2nd half? Would we still be as down on the team as some are?

Living in louisville I catch a few radio shows on ul football. They had a horrible 1st half but played good in the 2nd half, and there fans are as optimistic as any fan base in the country. I know they're not very intelligent, but it got me thinking, if the game was played in reverse and we started bad but finished strong, would our fans be more optimistic?

Thoughts?

I would be more concerned, honestly, for mentality reasons.

The lesson that can be learned from playing good in the first half, but bad in the second half: We can't let off the gas anymore, any team on our schedule could catch us and win if we do.

The mentality that can be picked up from playing good in the second half, but poor in the first half: We don't need to play the full game, we'll just give it our all in the second half and we'll come out on top.

No real way of gauging things though. If Kentucky kept its foot on the gas, we could have won that game 54, maybe 61 points to 14 or 17.
Mentality is everything, and what happened can teach our guys a valuable lesson.

Well they were playing Auburn and we were playing ULL...so no, if it had been reversed it would not changed anyone's opinion given the opponent.

I would like to think this is what happened. My only issue is that we played poorly when ULL switched the defense from press to 3 deep. Prior to that we had a big run and a bunch of 3 step drop and pop streak routes (which is ok because they were there).

ULL's second half defense forced us to run a more conventional offense and Towles to make progressions and check offs. We seemed to struggled with that.

I have zero doubt the youngsters will get better and that PT will too, hopefully sooner than later.

No, people would be much happier just like if we lost 6 straight to start last season instead of losing 6 straight to end the season.

Check out that dude's history of posts. Does DAM ever have anything positive to contribute?
HUGE difference between being POSITIVE and being HONEST. Some posters on here have WAY too many pairs of blue-tinted glasses and if they'd take 'em off once in a while and maybe delve into reality just a tad, they just may find that critical posts are oft times HONEST observations...of course, far be it from me to burst their big blue bubble and actually say what's reality and not blue fairy dust-sprinkled nonsense.

I'd rather be an optimist than someone who can't see any hope at all. Do some posters have tinted glasses? Yes. Am I going to shoot them down because I disagree with their view? No. Kentucky played a decent half and a bad half. The smack-down we saw in the first half isn't even what UK is fully capable of. While we did have deficiencies, there is a lot to look forward to from the youth and for the rest of the season.

You're 100% correct.... "they're not very intelligent".

I don't have a problem with anyone being honest but when it continues on and on in every post, I get the feeling that something else is going on with them. That isn't being said wearing blue tinted glasses, that's being honest.

I wish we had continued to blow them out. I thought the field goal on 4th and 1 in the second qtr was lame, but so many things you have to take in consideration. I'm not too concerned with the first game, but we had better play better in both halves in Columbia or it could get ugly.
