What happened to our LB's tackling for the 1st 3 1/2 Quarters?

We couldn't tackle the QB on many of our blitzes!
We couldn't tackle either RB on that read option run to the weak side that they ran what seemed like 100 times!

Why was it so difficult tonight?

This was my question. We looked like hot garbage for 3.5 quarters and then as soon as we need it the most we look very solid.

The only thing I can think of is that Defense (especially in the trenches) is a good bit about attitude. "Do I want to sacrifice my body?" "Will I throw everything I have at stopping this run?" and it looked as if our guys were just going through the motions expecting an easy win.

When the they realized that EKU wasn't going to just roll over and let them win they found themselves on the wrong side of momentum and it took a long time for them to flip it "on". Fortunately for us they had enough time to do so... just barely!
