What are the keys for a win at Arkansas?

It might be our most important game of the season considering where we are.

I say limit turnovers and limit their 3 pointers.
Important,no doubt and a game we should be able to win but after what we saw at Auburn it is hard to have much confidence. If we lose this one I think it brings the NCAAT into question if you look at the remaining schedule.I am a bit surprised that no one has been willing to throw that out there.

As to keys I think limit foul trouble to certain players, shoot a better % from the FT line and have 4 guys in double figures. If we depend on Murray and Ulis to score most of our points we are in big trouble.Willis may struggle on the defensive end in this one.

Here are a few:
1. Take care of the ball. If we turn it over, the game is over. Arkansas will press most of the game. Take care of the ball and keep them from making runs.
2. Defend the three point line. Arkansas shoots 47% as a team, 3rd in the nation. If they get it going, it will be a long night.
3. Weather the storm. Arkansas will be hyped for this game. They will score some points but our young guys can't let the atmosphere overwhelm them. If they keep their heads, they can win.
4. Everyone must play with energy and effort for 40 minutes. We can't afford a no show from our big men in this one.

We have had people including myself throw NIT out there. I expect to lose because Arkansas lives and dies by the 3. Given our luck they will be hitting.

This. Especially 3 & 4, which are related. We have to bring energy from the tip to quell some of the crowd's intensity early. Then, be prepared for the inevitable run that Arkansas will make. They will probably be lights out from 3, because it's Kentucky, and that's what teams do, but if we maintain focus and make smart plays we can win. I trust Tyler with the ball when things get rowdy, but Murray especially needs to play smart and limit turnovers.

What scares me the most about this game is Arkansas' ability to hit three's. We have not defended it well all season and it could get ugly if they're on.

Defend the 3 and bring effort/energy (looking at you front court). One of, if not both of these things are the primary reasons for all of our losses thus far.

Defend the 3 well, hit our own, and rebound. If Arky shoots their average (47% as stated in this thread) we lose by a lot.

as always, make your freethrows and certain players, take the shot if you are open and don't try to increase the degree of difficulty.

Just because there's always one smart ass in the crowd, I'll go ahead and say it.

The key to winning tonight's game is to score more points than they do.

I fully expect them (players & fans) to be jacked up beyond measure . I think they will hit about 10 - 12 threes and the zebras will call everything in the hoggs favor. Foul trouble will be like the 11th plague and i think arkansas wins by 10 .

I hope not but I have 0.00 % confidence in this group , on the road , in that environment !

I hope they go out and prove me wrong cause I can't stand the bunch from Arkansas!

Value each possession and move the ball. No time to be stagnant and stand around.
If we can make more free throws than they attempt then it will off set their 3 point %. Most importantly, don't let them have any offensive rebounds. No point in playing solid "D" then giving them multiple chances. One half of good basketball won't cut it on the road...need to play an entire game with intensity and the will to win.

Play in your face defense and unlike the last game make it an emphasis to make them beat you from inside the arc. That last game we had players slacking off for some reason. Then Lee and Poythress need to play the best interior defense they've played all season.

Limiting TO's and shutting down their good game from 3 to some degree is a good start. The first thing I thought was match their intensity, and don't get down early. Try to take the crowd out of it, at least a little. Then have somebody up front play a good game. Grab a bunch of rebounds, get open for some Ulis assist, and make your presence in the game known. Alex, Marcus, Skal, Humphries, I don't care. Just somebody(s).
