Wonder what the change was that triggered this uptick? Maybe the Coach? Looks like UK got a good one. Hope we hold on to him.

Realistically speaking I just don't think Henderson has what it takes to be a head coach. I think he is much too uptight and he cannot do well making decisions and managing the game. I think he's fine at developing arms and putting together solid bullpens, but not as a head coach. I think Mingione has an amazing attitude, he is laid back but also pushes his guys hard and I think he has brought in a very energetic and supportive staff. The players have latched onto that and seem to love the energy that he gives off and I think you can see that in the way they play. So, I think that goes a long way and it is just the beginning. Also changes in approach at bats, overall identity, and how we play the game.

Ming for president. If Ming leads UK to an SEC title and national seed in year 1, Mitch will pull out the checkbook really quickly. Talk about a grand slam hire.

Mingione is a great recruiter, motivator, and communicator. Henderson was a pretty good recruiter, a good assistant coach, but when it came to energizing the team or overall management , plus lack of personality, the teams never performed like they were capable for him.

Do you think if the HC job at Miss State were to open up in a couple of years, would Minge take it, or stay here and build his own dynasty in Lexington? I don't see him being attracted to any other jobs.

I didn't really expound on my thoughts as much before as I wanted to. I think Cohen would have stayed at UK had any other school but MSU come calling. However, Cohen's alma-mater was MSU and those that played there seem to have a strong loyalty to the school. Mingione's alma mater is Embry-Riddle University. He did spend 7 years or so at MSU, but (IIRC) he's said his wife and he loved UK and wanted a way back to Lexington and this was the route. So, if that remains true then I think that it will be hard to pull him away. Yes, there are plenty of traditional powerhouses that could give it a go, but I have to imagine that UK would be willing to match most offers for a coach who is in all likelihood going to help UK host a regional in only the second time in its history, and who is only in his first season. Also, I don't know that baseball is quite as brutal as some other sports and I don't know that teams would be banging on his door after one year. So, we'll have to see how he does going forward, but I would think that if he continues to be anywhere near this level of successful that he'll stick around.

I don't see why he'd leave as long as he continues to get support
I remember back in the 1980's when UCLA was trying to hire Dale Brown away from LSU in basketball, after the Tigers made the Final Four.
The LSU president simply asked Brown... " Why follow the master, when you are the Master " ???
