Welcome back Alex

Cal to Alex Poythress: "Alex, what you did today, big time."

It was like he hadn't missed 2 weeks. He was active and aggressive on both ends.

We need you Big Al!!!

Alex definitely helped down low . He looked quicker than ever without traveling. He was the difference down low. Also, Humphries gave some good minutes rebounding and being a presence.

I got sad during the post game interview because now everyone is starting to talk about the fact that he is a senior with just a few games left. Was holding out hope he'd have a 5th year because of his injury, but looks this is it. Will be sad to see him go.

Loved to see Poythress get out there and play like he hasn't missed a beat. if Willis can get back healthy, we will have a very dangerous team come tournament time.

Agree, he is Bama's daddy. But can he put back to back good games together, that has always been the frustrating thing for us Cat fans.

I didn't want to cast a negative by saying the same - but it's very true.
Alex does this Saturday against Vandy and I'll be downright giddy

Bumping this one for AP. I hope he brings Miserable Gym down when UK comes to Nashville.

Great to see him back in action !!

Love ya' Poy !

He was destroying 'Bama so bad they were double teaming him in the post. Made a big difference. It was also good to see him as fluid, confident and in rhythm as much as he was in limited duty really.

Poythress looked better tonight than he had looked all season and it was just in 18 minutes scoring 14 points. Maybe taking care of the knee and the rest in last 5 games is what the Doctor ordered for remainder of SEC season, SEC Tourney, and NCAA Tourney. It is very encouraging with his play and Lee grabbing 12 rebounds and the play of Humphries. We get Willis ankle and body rest and his ankle healed and this team gets close to 100% healthy and every team in the NCAA won't want to face Kentucky in the NCAA Tourney. WIth Ulis, Murray, and Briscoe in Backcourt and Poythress, Lee, Willis, and now Humphries underneath and Dom subbing in this team will be awesome come March Madness!

Praying for a healthy finish to your senior year. You played great tonight.

Yes he did, timing was perfect with the Willis injury,we need a healthy, whole team, especially with the way this Front Court fouls or at least gets called for them.Alex is a key piece to this team and I'm happy he is back.
GO CATS !!!!

I didn't expect to see Alex play much at all tonight. Great job.

After his last great showing vs Bama, Alex had:

6, 6, and 7 points the next 3 games.

The good news is that on the 4th game he had 16 points and that was against
Vandy.

Hoping he can provide this aggression the rest of the season.

Alex looked solid. Hey, we still don't KNOW if it was a meniscus thing, or how severe... if they just went in and cleared out a loose bodies or drained a sac, his knee could feel better than it has in months. We need this Alex to win the NCAAs, and I for one am dying for a feel good tournament story.

Plus, Humphries is now capable of giving us good minutes. This is coming together nicely.

Cal: "When Alex is the best version of himself, he's the best player of his size in the country."

Alex Poythress: I wasn't nervous coming back. "It's just basketball."

Glad to see Alex back and playing well. That said, i'm to the point were I don't trust in him anymore. I don't think we can count on him being an impact player in March because he still disappears for long stretches and has picked up a new habit of excessive fouling. I really hope Isaac can get it going these last few games and in the SEC tourney because we will really need him in March.

Very surprised to see that he's practically 100% again. I was hoping for just a few minutes last night to get back into the groove.

Will be interesting to see how he plays the rest of the way, but last night was a good start.
